Eskom wants you to pay more despite its inability to keep your lights on

but they won the court case for their stupid increases. so why are we still being fcked over with loadshedding??

This is ****ing absurd, basically blackmailing people, making sure they have no other option to choose from.
Eskom knows they can just continue stealing and wasting, because the people paying have nowhere else to go.

They need to be bought out by a private company.
Guvment is robbing them blind..

Mantshantsha said "the reality is that Eskom is operating ageing infrastructure which has been neglected over the past few years."

Past few years? Lol
26 years is a few years, but he is partially right the 2015 to 2018 era was really bad, that's how they kept us from load shedding by pushing the units to their limits and now we're paying for it. Granted the whole lets have over 4000Mw in planned maintenance over winter and the lockdown properly wasn't a good idea, but considering 1300 of that was Camden which had an ash dam about to explode thanks to no maintenance and 930Mw is Koeberg unit 2 which is down for refueling. Heavens know why they didn't refuel it while it was down from April to July.

Now is the time to get off-grid. Unfortunately Municipalitities shaft this idea.

While municipalities run electricity supply as a profit centre, they lose income as people go off-grid. Remember the Eskom subsidised solar water heater programme? I wanted to do it, Ethkweni told me that my rateable value would increase sufficiently to recover most of the savings from not buying electricity from them. Also, I would need planning permission, which would take about 18 months to get.

Here is a fantastic economic tip to private companies:
Employ as many people as possible, allow your staff members to loot and pillage your company.
Don't maintain your offices.
Increase your product pricing to offset the above business practice.
If you battle to sell your product, ask government for a bailout.
Do not reduce your work force
Repeat above steps.

You are good to go for the next 20 years.

Nope, they will just take it anyway, no choice in the matter

Another issue is that any monies recovered will probably go into the State pot. Remember the bread cartel? The fines levied by the competition commission went straight to Government, and the poor buggers, namely us, who had been paying excess prices for bread for years saw no benefit. I am willing to bet my shirt that Eskom recovering the cash will not result in price reductions or a lessening of the rate of price increases.

"Eskom told Parliament it expects power constraints to persist for at least the next year and warned that load-shedding may extend into 2022 depending on the pressure on the system. "

This should rather be.....

Eskom told Parliament, it expects the ANC cadres to keep on stealing for the next year and when Parliament will ask again what the status of Eskom is, Eskom told them to read this statement again for the foreseeable future.
