Uncapped electricity for R300 per month in Soweto yes
From the article:

"By law, the current tariffs will expire on 31 March 2022, and if no new tariff determination is made, Eskom will not have legal grounds to charge electricity users from 1 April 2022.

Consequently, municipalities would also be unable to charge power tariffs when their new prices are supposed to come into effect on 1 July 2022."

This article is all over the place. The "price increases" have very little to do with the "300 billion". A completely different reason why they would "need" 300 billion.

Nersa doesnt need eskom in order to set prices. They should just set the price and be done with it. Also the electricity monopoly needs to end this is way past what is reasonable.

I believe the solution to this problem is to get rid of the corrupt greedy trolls in eSkommel's board, replace them with people that are actually capable/qualified/competent.

Eskom steers a Man Made basic resource(Involved in everything, no choice on type), and even if Eskom is corrupt which can be fixed, I would not trust the Private sector providing my power as an AGENT for power, the floating layers of the private sector run for cover as soon as great emergency arrives, so NO for that.

Lets just understand this Private Sector(Innovator/Provider) verus Government(Act as Agent) thing correctly once and for all:

The International Private Sector is already deaply involved in Power, Telecomunications, Transport, etc the World over including SA=How=Well large private companies design & manufacture the backbone equipment needed for ..THEN.. Governments or other minor Private sector companies to use where they merely act as agents deploying & maintaining the equipment as to provide a service to the citizens, and the services by the Government is suppose to withstand Emergengies, Disasters etc, this is where ther smaller Private sectors flee ask for money or usually go bust and the taxpayer must pick up the pieces and fund the International Private Companies again.

So to say the Private Sector is not involved is 100% untrue, and that is the world over. The Private sector is deeply involved already.
Our problem maybe that we dont want to have internation like Private companies providing these large infrastructure services to us or better other countries, no we want to import that.

Simplicity: Do leaders of today actually understand simplicity or have the capacity to understand it-?
We the human Frinking race(Last 30 years proved this beyond any doubt), don't have the Social Intelligence(The intelligence that control all the other intelligences, and poreventyother intelligences going evil and running rampant with our future) to control all these complexities we generate on a daily basis, keep it simple and control Greed thats all.
The answer to all our financial problems are not to control companies, but rather to linit Profit, erradicate Greed, Fraud, Corruption. This will slow down the cycles, make most see a future again, afterall where is this new technology urgent haste waisting resources fast going anyway, each of only living up to 100 years if lucky, or unlucky how you looks at it.

The solution is simple , supply problematic areas with 1KV and put the step down transformers in the subscribers premises , that will stop all illegal connections , problem solved .
This will probably get rid of the illegal connector at the same time win win .

Oh dear of course...here we go.

Interesting how you flip flop between using New Dawn as a sarcastic term or a genuine term, depending on the thread/situation.

You are the New Dawn "champion" in these threads.

The board has not been changed so as to "fix" ESKOM...only the new CGE was appointed to start cleaning up the rot and the mess left behind by the previous crooks.

But De Ruyter is hampered and blocked by the Unions as THEY instruct government on what can be done, especially re. the biggest expense at ESKOM and that is the massively bloated staff numbers.
