Watch how many businesses go off grid if they double their prices. Death spiral incoming.

With the increases they want, we will be paying over R3.00 per unit in 3 years time.

At this price, any solar battery system is much cheaper.

All our buildings in total had an electricity bill of just over R12m a year. We are now busy installing solar to lower this. So yeah, let them increase as much as they want, everyone will just eventually go off grid. And then they will be screwed.

Eskom has applied for a 15% increase to tariffs every year for the next three years – but says that it is actually entitled to hike fees by 90%.

How is it entitled? When wasting money as they do?
And how is it the rest of South Africa's fault if they don't have enough coal?

I'm not sure the legalities behind this but why haven't we've seen privatised electricity providers in South Africa as of yet?
