Eskom will increase load-shedding to stage 6 at 21:00 on Tuesday, 31 January

It's most likely stage 6 for the rest of the week. They send out the initial announcement showing drops to stage 5 and 4 afterwards to make it seem not so bad but just slap on permanent stage 6 when the time comes. Don't see why they would otherwise need to go to stage 6 from 21:00 to 05:00 when most people are asleep and not using electricity.

It's so they don't have to burn diesel overnight and allow for the pumped storage schemes to be ready for the next day.

So yes, we all know what the actual reasons are, but I'd like to know what the official reports (if there even are such things) are saying the root cause was every time there was a 'breakdown' that got sorted out.

Actually mind boggling that the majority of the public voted for vermin to run the country.

This is why you don't allow them permanent loadshedding, they will go full paddle (pedal?) within a week and stay there indefinitely..

The CNN atricle sums it up nicely..

Eskom: The Roots of a Crisis

Under the ruling African National Congress (ANC), in charge since 1994, Eskom has become synonymous with corruption, crime, and mismanagement.

Last year a judge-led inquiry into graft under the former president, Jacob Zuma, found that there were grounds to prosecute several former Eskom executives.

The government has failed to build new power stations to keep up with increased demand, and warnings from energy experts on looming supply shortages across the past two decades have gone ignored.

A 2019 report by the South African Institution of Civil Engineering shows skilled engineers have been leaving the country in droves.

Despite spending billions of USD on two huge coal power stations, neither works properly.

Older plants are dilapidated due to a lack of maintenance, and organized crime steals vital coal supplies and cable from the rail lines going from mines to power stations.

Well, we've made it to CNN:

Maybe sheer embarrassment and our declining currency will prod the cANCer in the right direction....

BWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA! Not!
CNN reporting more often than not pure fear mongering.
Also shows that the US Government has a clear agenda for SA.

Stage 3 I was getting 2:30 periods of loadshedding. Now stage 6, I get none.

Did Zuma do the maths on these stages?
