There's more to be said about our electricity prices pre-1994 and how Eskom was financing new builds 1994-2008. Oh wait, they weren't. Perhaps not entirely a coincidence.

We're still just in the middle of the pack internationally. We're higher in PPP terms, but it's a tricky one to normalise given the price is just a guideline. If you're poor in SA you get it for free one way or another.

I still see some room on the table for cadre growth.
You can do it!!

I hear Apartheid ended so that the everyone can have access to previously privileged things.

Only to have it become unaffordable.

Please show me anything that has increased with inflation??

I have no bloody clue.
Bread? Two minute noodles? Those cheap old Chappies you find at a petrol station buried under a layer of dust?
Not even my blood pressure has increased with inflation.

EDIT:
In other news, I see what I owe the SABC has finally started increasing again after their numbers were stagnant for years, I might actually reach the 10K mark.
I wonder if there's any other MyBB member that can compete?

Exactly ;) inflation in SA is meaningless.

It's a low number used to determine your salary increase.

The only big financial expense in SA I can think of that's way better than most places in the developed world these days is the value of properties in most places. We haven't gone down that ridiculous road of property being some insane asset that locks the next generation completely out of the market.

It's actually pretty affordable for the most part. It's also one of the main reasons I don't want to go overseas. Starting from basically scratch in your 40's with useless Rands in your pocket and being a renter for the rest of your life is a bit of a k@k deal.

That said, we're paying in blood for that privilege so yeah, I don't know anymore.

Yeah, we grow up with the idea to get into the property market as soon as you can. It doesn't appear to be that way in Europe and Asia.

Many many people rent, for 20-30 years at a time. It's a mind shift perhaps.

Disclaimer: I have no proof of this, it's my own conclusion/opinion
