Eskom's monthly diesel costs are in the billions

That’s ok. After the election we can go back to 4 more years of super loadshedding. No diesel needed.
Those billions can be looted instead.
 
Wonder how much they're using up to elections? Is there a higher usage of OCGT since load shedding paused now on their dashboard?

Actually no, it's been used during peaks when needed.

The years of diesel usage shown in those articles are financial years, not Jan to Dec years, Eskom financial year is April to end of March the following year, so the year overlap, the diesel usage we are seeing for 2024 is actually from April last year to end of March this year, but people are mistakingly saying Eskom has already used more money for the first 5 months of 2024 than the whole of 2023, which is of course not the case.

I think loadshedding was already low since the beginning of the year and 2023 had more months anyway. The budget for 2024/25 year is expected to be half of the previous year so I think we are doing well as far as diesel usage is concerned, but you know once people are set on their conspiracies there is not much you can say to change their minds.

All Eskom must do now is increase the price again.

How will they recoup the costs of last years diesel bill?
 
How much is Eskom paying per litre for diesel, that is the question. I'm pretty sure these BEE companies are charging way more because you know "guvmint tenda"
