Have been to meaning to create this thread for a while but just haven't managed to get around to it.

After my account was deleted after roughly two months of "inactivity" (If Esquire asks my last transaction was towards the latter half of Oct 2013 and I stopped receiving your promotional emails before end of December which as you have confirmed runs hand in hand)I discovered some things seems to have changed at Esquire..

With our subsequent discussion it came to light that they are deleting many normal and many MyBB accounts (at that stage I think he said more than 200) with no plan to reopen them.

So my question is for the forumites do you purchase goods every month to keep your account with them...? They said 3-6 months will result in deletions of accounts which would NOT be reopened. I was of course offered eventually to keep my account open if I promised to purchase something from them every month at least. That said from last year I purchased just over R5k's worth of goods from them which apparently isn't considered good enough.

I thought the whole point was that we could purchase from Esquire as a normal consumer without having to have an account which was heavily traded on. Now it seem to be shifting.

Well just another FYI for MyBB forumites. Like I told Esquire I'm in no way here to bash them but I will also not keep quiet with how they treat some of us.

I suspect the Mybb accounts were an experiment and it turned out to be more hassle than they expected.

I just buy from Wootware/Rebeltech. A hint more expensive but for obvious reasons I'm OK with that.

My account is still open and very useful to have here in PE where courier charges from main centres are not cheap.

Reckon I buy from them at least once every two months, maybe R7K a year.

That may be the case but the rep has in the past mentioned how MyBB has helped them reach their sales targets etc. so I'm sure this has been very lucrative for them as well. I see they are very happy to open new accounts for forumites because they know it will amount to a quick sale but it's what happens afterwards thats the (supposed) issue.

Are the prices at esquire wholesale/trade/reseller prices?
The question is why doesn't companies like rectron or pinnacle not offer accounts to us forumites?

Too much hassle - you need more support infrastructure to sell to the (clueless) public than to high volume resellers.

But we all tech intellects. Why don't they offer a offer directly to us using our forum names and status?

Can anyone arrange a COD account with rectron or pinnacle for me please.

And by (clueless) I presume you mean, any client who isn't willing to eat up Esquire's BS and lick the boots of the owner (we are lower life forms after all)

I wouldn't say everyone on the forums are intellects :p. Anyway some really do have little to no IT experience. How do you weed those people out?
I think the fact that Esquire actually has a sort of retail style to it as opposed to other wholesalers which are strictly order and collect differentiates it from them a bit as well.

Still don't understand why they would delete accounts? There must be somethings more at play here.

Apparently they need to delete accounts to add new accounts.
They have database "space" constraints... and when this fills up, accounts have to be deleted, and then once deleted, cannot be re-opened.
If you also unsubscribe from their newsletter spam, instant automatic account deletion too apparently these are linked and cannot be separated. No email on their list, no account.

Personally I think the issue of having to deal with customers has proved too much.

Useless kents.

Then they have a schit database, and a schit system.

As far as I know some of the suppliers have a minimum Rand value you need to spend per year?
I know I was contacted by Pinnacle a year or two ago, because I did not made of their services for a while.
Some of the laptop suppliers, would only approve my application if I spend about 10K per month.

How much does more database "space" cost them, compared to potential future sales?

LOL, lately I get cheaper prices from Amazon.com than any of the suppliers locally.

Cheaper to buy Western Digital hard-drives from Amazon than any of the local suppliers.

Whole lot more options also. Can't be bothered supporting local suppliers any longer.
