Zuma's case has dragged on for years, I anticipate hers to go on for a much shorter time, unless as Surface has said, she becomes President, then it could drag for aslong as Zuma's.
So in essence you agree with my first statement:
So she's a crony of Zuma's ... When does Zuma get to face court? Why is she fast tracked?
So why argue lol

In theory I agree with you...

But specifically in eThekwini (given that I live in the city) the amount of vitriol thrown at her in the last 3 weeks for the crap she caused from all sides (and very loudly from the much poorer segment of the population) was extreme.... The ANC could very possibly (even the Zuma faction themselves) be very happy to see her thrown under the bus just for a short term positive with its voting base...

I doubt she is of any use to the Zuma faction anymore in any event...
Don't forget that there may be people who have an interest in keeping her quiet.

No I don't. You heard that she is out on bail already, didn't you say something about someone actually answering to the merits of a case?

That excuse has been used for ages in those circles, and even the guys who have been done in have never spilled any beans... so personally I don't see it holding any water anymore.

Err you did actually:

What did you mean by a much shorter time then if not a much shorter time? In other words.... She is being fast tracked while Zuma roams free.

Why Durban Mayor Zandile Gumede 'incited' protest

Durban – eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede and councillor Mondli Mthembu are alleged to have orchestrated a march to Durban City Hall last month that called for the removal of the city manager because he would not sign off on a payment for an illegal tender.

The allegation was made at the Durban Commercial Crimes Court on Tuesday where Gumede and Mthembu were appearing on graft charges.

According to the affidavit of lead Hawks' investigator Ngoako Mphaki, which senior state advocate Ashika Lucken read into the record:

“In April 2019, information was received that mayor Gumede incited a march to the city hall to request the removal of city manager Sipho Nzuza from office on the grounds that he refused to take orders from the mayor to make the irregular payments.

“On 16 April, at about 2pm, a large group of people gathered outside city hall protesting and demanding the removal of the city manager. Information is at hand that mayor Gumede and councillor Mthembu orchestrated these events,” said Mphaki’s affidavit.
Gumede handed herself over to police the morning before appearing in court alongside Mthembu and service provider Craig Ponnan. The trio was released on R50 000 bail each.
Gumede is also the chairperson of the ANC eThekwini region – the biggest in the country. Mthembu is its deputy secretary.
They are part of a group – the others were arrested two weeks ago – that are alleged to have conspired to swindle the city out of R45 million through the illegal awarding of a Durban Solid Waste (DSW) contract.
The other accused include Robert Abbu – DSW’s deputy head for strategic and new developments, and the city’s supply chain manager and chairman of the bid adjudication committee, Sandile Ngcobo.
The accused are all facing multiple charges of fraud and corruption as well as contravention of several acts such as the Municipal Financial Management Act, Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act, Organised Crime Act and the Riotous Assemblies Act.

Not sure if it's been reported on yet but at yesterday's appearance she made use of metro cops as her personal bodyguards.

They formed a thick ring around her to "protect" her from the media. The thugs tried to instruct the media not to take photos, unfortunately for the cops, they were in a very public venue and could not get as physical as they sometimes do. Things got extremely heated through.

That didn't stop some of the mayor's office staff though. They also formed a protective inner ring, holding up their handbags to shield her from the cameras, and swinging those bags at the cameras that came close.

The capture runs strong in my municipality. :crying:

The only ones missing were the BLF, sure they will soon join.

Gumede won’t step down as Durban mayor due to ‘mere allegations’

eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede appeared in the Durban Commercial Crimes Court on charges that include fraud, corruption, and racketeering on Tuesday, but she told The Star on Wednesday morning that she had no intention of vacating her position as her alleged wrongdoings are “mere allegations”.

The charges against Gumede relate to an alleged dodgy tender within the Durban Solid Waste (DSW) department. Gumede stands accused of playing a “major role” in the defrauding of ratepayers to the tune of R208 million. According to the Hawks, those involved in the tender were “allegedly paid huge amounts of money even though they didn’t render any service.”

‌Gumede, however, insists that the case must run its course and that until this occurs, she’s innocent until proven guilty.

“Three suspects aged between 61 and 58 will appear in the Specialised Commercial Court today as part of the Hawks’ National Clean Audit Task Team (NCATT) investigation at eThekwini municipality,” a statement from The Hawks confirmed.
Interesting, pity the Hawks do not have their own website where one can read more about this task team.

Durban - Three men, including an eThekwini Municipality official, who allegedly defrauded the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) by creating ghost employees and inflating salaries were arrested by the Hawks this week.

City official Andile Shangase, 37, his relative Bongani Shangase, 45, and friend Musawenkosi Mthethwa, 31, were arrested by the Hawks National Clean Audit Task Team and appeared on charges of fraud in the Durban Commercial Crimes Court on Wednesday

I wonder if this hawks unit deals with corruption related to audit findings. If they do then should have been busy from decades ago and would keep busy until the dinosaurs return
