She's probably busy buying off witnesses and prosecutors, magistrates etc. I smell this going the same way the Amigos case went with Peggy Nkonyane. Hopeful the new brooms at the NPA can thwart the captured plants in the hawks and see she goes away for minimum 15 years.
Doubt she's buying off witnesses and such...

She is using her business forum connections to threaten their families etc.... she rolls that way.

TENSIONS RISE BETWEEN KZN ANCYL, ANCWL OVER ETHEKWINI MAYOR ZANDILE GUMEDE

JOHANNESBURG – As the African National Congress (ANC) decides whether to allow eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede to return to work on Wednesday, the party’s structures are divided on whether she must be allowed to set foot in the metro offices.

The party forced Gumede to take 30 days leave after she was charged with fraud and corruption related to the awarding of a tender worth over R200-million.

She has since been released on R50,000 bail. The forced leave lapsed yesterday.

The ANCYL and the ANCWL in eThekwini are at each other’s throats and the tensions are not new.

No work yet for eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede until ANC probe ends

Embattled eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede will not return to work just yet as an ANC investigation into her is still incomplete.

This was announced by ANC KwaZulu-Natal provincial secretary-general Mdumiseni Ntuli on Wednesday.

Gumede is facing charges of fraud and corruption relating to a R208m Durban Solid Waste tender awarded in 2016 - in which 62 other councillors have also been implicated.

Yeah awesome... except the urgency attached to this from the ANC is totally obvious... they will wait until the end of July for the next scheduled PEC/PWC...

Late start, but #Gumede's supporters braved cold to hold night vigil

Durban – Die-hard supporters of criminally charged Durban Mayor Zandile Gumede braved the cold on Wednesday night and finally got their night vigil under way.

The vigil was supposed to start at 7 pm, but by 9 pm no supporters were in sight. There had been confusion about a potential venue.

By midnight though, the mayor's backers - draped in African National Congress (ANC) regalia and singing struggle songs - were marching through the city streets and eventually settled at the ANC headquarters in Durban.

Had Gumede's leave not been extended by provincial ANC leadership, she would have been expected back at work on Thursday.

WATCH: Durban city hall shut down, traffic chaos in CBD as #Gumede's supporters protest

Durban - Protesters allegedly in support of embattled eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede have shut down operations at the Durban City Hall and municipal buildings nearby on Thursday.

People clad in ANC regalia have closed off the intersections around the Durban City Hall. Protesters have closed of Dr Pixley Kaseme and Dorothy Nyembe Road and Anton Lembede Street. This has also caused major traffic congestion in the city centre during peak morning traffic. The protesters are surrounded by a large police contingent.

The fools will soon be protesting lack of service delivery - they just can't understand that these thieving dirty corrupt ANC goons are the cause.

Not bad - what is the going rate to hire per day these days.. 150?

Colonel Thembeka Mbele, a KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, said from 6am a group of about 200 people gathered together in the Durban CBD

We just heard a loud crashing sound then a car alarm going off in our offices. I thought something had fallen on someone's car (scary thought given that there have been guys hanging on the side of the building cleaning windows all week). Went to investigate and lo and behold, on the other side of the fence on the M4 is a mass of police and protestors. Rubber bullets and stun grenades going off. Seems to have dispersed for now.

ANC faction hitmen are very good at their jobs, .............. poor performance across the board.

Hawks officer probing Zandile Gumede shot and injured

A member of the Hawks task team investigating a corruption and money laundering case of eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede survived after he was shot by three unidentified gunmen.

The incident, which happened on Friday last week, was confirmed by the Hawks spokesperson Brig Hangwani Mulaudzi on Wednesday evening.

Mulaudzi said the police officer, whose identity was not disclosed for security reasons, came under a hail of bullets while driving to work in Johannesburg.

The wounded cop, however, managed to escape and received medical attention.

Mulaudzi said the officer was now recuperating at home. No arrests have been made.

“He was travelling to work when three suspects started shooting at him and he managed to escape. And there were bystanders who were affected [by the shooting],” he said.

Mulaudzi, however, declined to disclose the number of the bystanders who were affected by the shooting incident nor the extent of their injuries.

Zandile Gumede, Themba Njilo officially out as ANC makes sweeping leadership changes

The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal has confirmed embattled eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede, as well as Msunduzi Mayor Themba Njilo, will be asked to step aside in one of many sweeping leadership changes it is making in the province.
After weeks of debating Gumede's continued role as mayor, the party's provincial executive committee (PEC) has finally decided to relieve her of her duties in the metro and redeploy her elsewhere.
This after the PEC held another special two-day meeting this week.
Based on a report presented it to it by a provincial working committee (PWC), the PEC acknowledged that the Msunduzi and eThekwini municipalities, where Njilo and Gumede were heads, "required urgent attention".

"All ANC members serving as Exco members at eThekwini Municipality and Msunduzi Municipality should be redeployed with immediate effect," provincial secretary Mdumiseni Ntuli said on Tuesday at a press briefing in Durban.

But they were not worried about all the service delivery issues before she was charged by the Hawks.
