EU fining Apple R10.2 billion for stifling music streaming service competition

Apple Inc. will face a European Union fine close to €500 million (R10.18 billion) over the regulator’s investigation into allegations it silenced music-streaming rivals, including Spotify Technology SA, on its platforms.

The penalty — Apple’s first ever from the bloc — will be set after the EU watchdog found that it fell foul of competition rules in thwarting rival music services from informing users that cheaper alternatives existed outside of its App Store, according to people familiar with the matter.

Another day... Another Apple piece for @Dolby to twerk over...
Gosh no ... you'll get @FiestaST in and he'll erupt and have the thread closed down . Which is sad, as I probably know more about Apple Music than he does :/

So it's safer that I don't discuss and think that everyone else just needs to watch what they say & how they say it

lol at erupt, I’m cool as a cucumber.

You on the other hand, pretty delusional oke in my humble opinion of course.

Also victim blaming is so passé bro. Keep up with the times

Ukraine needs more weapons and that money has to come from somewhere... 500 million Euros can keep them afloat for a few days.

I don't get the fuss about this at all... Why should companies like Spotify and Epic be allowed free use of the App Store?

This is like a boutique refusing to pay Sandton City rentals but demanding the same foot traffic.

They'll just pass the costs on to us. This is silly.

Which is the right thing to do. Someone needs to pay it and it can't be the company. No company can make a living paying fines all the time.
