Couldn't find a thread when I searched so I thought I'd ask.

Anyone play any foreign lotto from South Africa?

Tickets are upwards of R50 a pop, but obviously the prizes are massive in comparison to the local version.

Anyone win anything?

Curious: does a foreigner ever win anything in these lotteries? I can't recall ever hearing of someone outside that country winning a lottery...

I have the same question.

I presume very few people outside the place the lotto is located actually take part...

Its illegal to play in those lotteries.

You will never be able to fully repatriate the money because they will be legally allowed to confiscate it.

So you could fly over to Europe and live off your 100mill over there?

Technically yes.

I'm not sure what sort of criminal charges if any they could bring against you for playing in a non licensed lottery though.

As an SA citizen, you are not legally allowed to play in any lottery that is no licensed here..

Similar to online gambling basically, it has to be licensed here to be legal to play.

That is disappointing.

Or using this site. http://www.playhugelottos.com/
Just not too sure what our government will do if you win. Probably try and claim all the money for themselves via tax.

I play with free tickets you get from time to time. Supposedly won some cash in an Australian lottery but never tried to withdraw the money. Used it to purchase more tickets.

Not convinced it's legit

- You are not allowed to play in another lottery online, if you happen to be in the other country you can play the lotto there just not online.

Seems a lot of money to spend on something with no clear guarantee that you'll ever be able to cash out :(
