EuroNews will host a debate on Africa – Europe: views on regional integration in Pretoria, on Thursday 11 October 2007.

This topic is expected to result in lively discussion by the panellists; Louis Michel – European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid, João Samuel Caholo – SADC Deputy Executive Secretary and Elizabeth Sidiropoulos - National Director, South African Institute of International Affairs.

According to Multichoice the debate is in celebration of EuroNews being carried on MultiChoice’s DStv platform, and will be moderated by Sergio Cantone, EuroNews’ European Affairs Correspondent in Brussels, Belgium.

MultiChoice South Africa CEO, Nolo Letele said “Providing high quality news channels with a global perspective is paramount to enhancing the television experience of our subscribers. However, the old ways of news and entertainment delivery are changing, more and more people are watching television on their cell phones. Over the next decade we are going to see the biggest revolution in the media since the printing press. Consumers now want to consume content on their terms – what they want, when they want and how they receive it.

MultiChoice has embraced this philosophy, with the trialing of new delivery platforms such as DVB-h or mobile TV, HD TV, VOD and Broadband. This is why we feel such a close technology association with EuroNews, the channel is broadcast on mobile phone platforms, ADSL/High Speed Internet networks and on board the aircraft of leading international airlines.”

EuroNews is available on DStv’s channel 283 and provides MultiChoice’s customers with access to international news from a European perspective. Viewers are also able to watch EuroNews in five language versions: English, French, German, Portuguese or Spanish.
