If that's the case then you should also be able to remove traces of yourself from national archives etc. Archived newspaper articles, court records, school yearbooks and whatever else.

It is easier said than getting it done. Because every time you Google/Yahoo/Bing your name, it'll be back... And due to the nature of the Internet, some data will be replicated somehow... making it next to impossible to delete everything 100%.
