Even more sabotage found at Eskom, less than 24 hours after two incidents were picked up, and more incompetence on display

In the early hours of Friday, Eskom officials at Hendrina Power Station were unable to start up unit five and upon inspection found that during the night copper bars on the unit's generator had been removed, and reactor earth bars, had also been removed.

Units two and six suffered the same fate.

Officials suspect theft, but it was unclear how any thief would be able to gain access to the Hendrina premises and have enough time to remove the cables and the reactor bars from three units.

In another incident, the incorrect oil was used for unit two at Duvha Power Station, meaning a further delay to returning the 570-megawatt unit to service.

Duvha unit two's return to service (RTS) date was nearly six months overdue, due to a series of apparent mistakes that kept delaying the completion of work at the power station.

Further mistakes

Other problems that had plagued repairs include valves being installed incorrectly, and further mistakes that had caused repeated delays.

Pity the guy didn't get electrocuted

Two fellows were using a hacksaw to cut through Transnet cables. When the blade hit a live wire, it melted so the one guy picked up a fresh saw and was able to cut through the now safe cable

He had a plastic bag around the hacksaw handle

The whole episode took 3 mins. Despite the SAPS being given the video recording on a USB stick, they took no action. Following up 2 weeks later, the USB stick was "lost". Another was handed to them but they declined to view it, in case the USB contained a virus. We offered to take our own laptop for them to view, but they said that it would not be official, so declined

The station commander was not interested, he muttered something about being outside their jurisdiction

At work we have to call in The Police. it's a formality for them to come sweep up the Ashes.
I still say paying the Electrician Overtime to repair the Blown cable is cheaper than the Perp sitting in jail.

Speaking on eNCA, De Ruyter said he would not be blamed for a “ship that’s been mismanaged over the past 15 years” and “hollowed out by corruption”.

I knew that BEE beneficiary who disrespected Scopa was getting her notes from someone.

“I know there are many armchair critics who delight in being very clever and style themselves as energy experts, but, with respect, I don’t think they have the full appreciation of the challenge the job entails.”.

You don't have to be a energy expert to know the cause of our electricity issues:

1) lack of building capacity during Bheki years
2) replacing experienced folk with BEE folk due to color corrections
3) Zuma letting the Guptas rule the land & steal cola mines
4) ANC politicians stealing our money
5) corruption in procurement brooms for R300k
6) sabotage by our own people with agendas
7) a weak government that looks after itself instead of the job we pay them to do
8) old prime corrupt lining himself up as nuclear beneficiary, else that would maybe have been an option years ago

Eskom isn't the challenge, track record says previous regime run it for many years very effectively, the problem is the cANCer, of which you belong to.
So effoff with your armchair critic k@k a child can see what's wrong with the big picture in South Africa and its you lot.
