Evetech insider provides insight into the tech retailer's processes

Great article. What Evetech says about the 20% fee is attributed to bundle purchases - fine I can believe that but the insider comments suggest that it happens on all products and not bundled products. So, why is there still this 20% fee on non bundle purchases that are returned?

I can't see why Evetech can't open branches all over ZA and deal with their customers better than they are currently dealing with them - for example, Takealot - have those 'local' branches - it's not like they don't make lots of money.

Evetech are cutting out the support margin in their retail pricing. They can't provide good service sustainably.

Unfortunately, I doubt enough people will read this article. If this kind of information reaches many people, it can at least make an impact to force Evetech to change their ways when they choose not to shop with Evetech.

Well, thank god I dodged that bullet.

It is a shame there isn't an actual service quality rating site (or service) that has some teeth. HelloPeter is fine and all, but there are so many known companies on there that don't even bother to respond.

One way to at least limit the possibility of review bombing for the far left troggies and the far right troggies would be to time delay a purchase linked review driven by websites / companies you buy from. You'll have to give up a mail addy of course / cell phone, but something short and sweet with commentary possible might do? I mean I know some of them do stuff like this, but it'd have to be some kind of non-aligned service.

Wow, and i just ordered a Dell Laptop for someone i know. Has a 2 year warranty ( on-site ) , so i hope in this case Dell deals with the support if needed...

Yes. Notebooks Evetech won't deal with you under any circumstances. Deal directly with dell and they flippen awesome.

Hectic, in the market for a PC upgrade, suppose I will go a different route now.
Well if after doing simple 'Evetech' search on this forum even before this report, you deserve what you get. (sadly, as the consumer means nothing.)

I didn't bother reading Evetechs statement, what's the TL;DR?

I get how their support is, but still, some products are a LOT cheaper. A person can't help but to roll the dice sometimes and try your luck.

I hear you. We moved to Wootware about a year ago and the support has been excellent when compared to our experience with Evetech. Unfortunately, the pricing with Evetech does make you try your luck at times.
