Evetech insider provides insight into the tech retailer's processes

Yes. Notebooks Evetech won't deal with you under any circumstances. Deal directly with dell and they flippen awesome.

I have to agree on this.
Dell's support is fantastic. My Dell laptop's graphics card had issues. I phoned Dell and the next day, the Dell technician sat at my desk and replaced my graphics card.
With a friend of mine as well......
Dell has Support software running on the laptop. The software reported that 1 of his hard drives is having issues. The software asked him if he wanted to replace it. He clicked 'yes' and the order was done for a new hard drive. The hard drive arrived the next day............and he paid nothing.

Obviously, both laptops were still under warranty.

I had a few dealings with them over the years with two big purchases and a few other small items in between and I can be thankful that nothing broke since apparently.
1.Desktop PC 2017 - Staff was friendly but they made me feel unwelcome when they broke out the blue light to count the cash (made me wait over 45min because their accounting lady was apparently busy)
2. Laptop 2019 - Ordered online and it was delivered at my doorstep within a week

I really miss Rebel Tech and if I can find a similar electronics store I would definitely support them.

I've learned over the years that it is worth paying just a little extra to deal with people that you know and can trust.

I was saddened when Rebeltech went out of business, because man they just went the extra mile. I'd buy from them any day, even if Evetech was R100 cheaper.

carbonite banned them , you see some amusing responses when people sell stuff with evetech warranty.
Must be hell to work in their support dept.
Good to see some scathing articles about tech companies, especially the vodacom one. Mybb going back to the consumer's side again?

Rebeltech was really good.
I bought my upgrade components from them a year ago. They were fantastic and they know their products.
It is very frustrating when sales people do not know what they are selling.

My useless two cents:

TLDR Evetech will never see my sheckles again. Wootware has my loyalty.

Used to support Rebel Tech(So did the rest of my gaming clan). Living in the Cape now, it's easier with Wootware. I have never had an issue with Wootware. Can (prior to COVID) walk into the reception area(buzzed in) and pick up my stock. They don't have a physical shop. Evetech's setup is the same/was the same. The difference is, Wootware staff are actually nice, always helpful, friendly. I always felt in the way or like I inconvenienced the staff I went to Evetech, but this was in 2014/2015, hoped I was an isolated case (it's me, not you)

On a side note, Rebel Gaming is up and coming. We just helped a mate with a full rebuild and RG was on top of it, but price-wise, Wootware still pounded it.

I get how their support is, but still, some products are a LOT cheaper. A person can't help but to roll the dice sometimes and try your luck.
That's what I did when I bought a laptop last year. I really hope it doesn't break :s

I won't be supporting them again though. It's too risky. But with Rebeltech gone I don't know where to go :(

I've purchased from them before, but didn't need to attempt their customer service.

I realise that the computer parts market is very cut throat, but this is just unscrupulous.

I don't know about the other internal company issues, but if they're using Aramex there's half their problem. I've had nothing buy delays and shoddy service from Aramex, will not touch them again. And that's their normal Express stuff, not the budget global shopper.

Dropped 52k on new rig last year November with them. Have not needed support yet on anything bought from them. Lets see.

Was one of the unlucky ones waiting for the Ryzen 9 3900X so they gave me a Ryzen 7 to use while I waited. That was pretty decent of them got to admit.

So evetech is like the new sahara in the after sales category. If the price is right (and excluding any damage in transit from couriers, so it would be better to do a pickup instead and inspect the goods right there and then) I would buy from evetech items that are historically not likely to fail (boxed cpu, computer case), or inexpensive (mouse pad), or I know I can get the required support elsewhere (branded (Dell, HP, etc) items with appropriate warranty). Anything else like ram, graphics card, ssd, hdd, keyboard, etc, better go look elsewhere.

Do you think Evetech is treating its customers fairly?

...
After six months you would only get supplier credit. The credit note is for the wholesale cost of the item, which means the customer gets the credit ex-VAT and ex-mark-up, and they are told that it is because of depreciation of value.

Which also points to a possibility of tax evasion (or just plain theft from the buyer) on the vat from the end user sale side, internally evetech could issue two credit notes (the full invoice value and the lesser store credit) and only provide the lesser store credit to the buyer while the full invoice credit note gets processed on the accounting books for them to present to sars to claim back from.

Try out Dreamwaretech. Excellent personal support, sustainable packaging, a chocolate with every order.

So happy I read this article. Now I know Evetech can't be trusted. They are indeed a bunch of snakes. Will buy from a company that can be trusted

I am really glad to see Evetech exposed and if people still continue using Evetech then they deserve the bad service they will receive.

Reminds me of PC Zone in KZN. They were always cheaper than everyone else but there was a reason. God help you if you had an issue and needed to claim that warranty.

How is Raru? I see they have some good pricing.

I actually had a pretty successful warranty return with Evetech. It did take like 3 weeks though, but they ended up giving me a brand new mobo of equal spec as my old one had died.

I had a horrible experience with Raru, bought an item they claimed via an email enquiry was available to purchase. They remained quiet after the expected delivery date, I had no idea what was happening. When I emailed them I got no response. I could not phone them because they claim on their web site that they are not available via phone due to the covid-19 crisis (still the case). Eventually they came back to inform me that there was no actual stock available. Refund was a pain, from the time they said they would refund me to the time I received a refund about 6 weeks passed, and they have to be constantly reminded of the refund. This was my first large (>R3000) order from them, in a way a test as I usually use Takealot and Loot for the larger things. They failed.
