Lol, hey that fine is not legal either, there's another vehicle in the picture. So technically the car is front could have been speeding and you happened to be in the pic.

Assuming of course the camera was set up correctly.

Gomario, the people don't necessarily hate all cops, but in general the cops have earned themselves a bad rap with the public, because the public see the cops focusing on revenue income rather than promoting road safety.

You may argue that the person you caught may not speed in the future, but take for example South Korea, there the cops are very visible and always have the top lights flashing when just patrolling, why, because it's called visible policing.
Concealing yourself trapping motorists is more likely to generate income and have zero effect on improving road safety, and the time could be better spent countering the real threats to road safety, the taxis for one, but it appears most cops don't have the balls, or they're owned by the taxis companies.

+1

Why was it Gomario that on Carte Blanche the JMPD jumped up and ran off when they were questioned about their trap setup. Surely the police can't be wrong? Why did they run away, the police are trustworthy are they not, they do things right?

This is why we question and don't trust you. Due to the total disregard for laws, the same laws you are supposed to be defending on my behalf.

However, with RPM's permission, I can post a few pics of mutilated body parts which I took with my cellphone after hi speed accidents. If I save a single life by doing that, (and it works with most people) then I am prepared to take all your punches/criticism :D One thing you should NEVER forget: Kinetic energy = mass x speed squared ! ! !

Wow, my superhero! The biggest problem is every photo on here is of someone doing 90 odd in an 80 zone! I am yet to see any photos of 140, 150, 160+ in a 120 zone! You can spin it as you want but it has nothing to do with road safety, it has to do with lining pockets and meeting targets!

Now look at my pic again. A dual carriageway in the middle of nowhere and I am trapped in an 80 zone! So whose life was being saved here again? The person illegally crossing the freeway?

Kinetic energy = mass x speed squared

Then you should be after the real speedsters and not sitting on Umgeni Road in Durban trapping just after it goes from 100 to 60 on a four lane wide road. Or catching people doing 90 down the back freeway where someone bright spark has decided he'll make the one section and 80 zone for some unknown reason!

Saving lives my fskin foot!

Precisely! When I get caught by a camera I often have no idea it has even happened. And by the time the fine comes in the post I have no idea where the fine even occurred so how the hell is it going to "prevent" me from doing it again? It is purely about making income!

My learner's license taught me that the speed limit on national roads is 120. I travel to Joburg. I look at my passenger for one second, miss the sign showing that some idiot has decided this stretch is 80 and I get a fine. Yes, I can see how that will promote road safety!

On the fine where 2 cars are shown in the picture, you can see the one vehicle is about 2x further away (about 30m vs 60m - the laser does measure the distance to the target too) . Another thing is the speed limit on the roads. Is not the cops deciding on them ! ! ! The cops are there to enforce them because of people like you :D Belive it or not, we complain just as much, if not more, where a speed limit seems to strict. If you dispute that you must complain to your local municipality. But you'll see, usually they have a reason for that, with locals asking for them (in some cases). The cops brake the law in your favor too, by giving you a extra 10km/h, but I guess, you won't complain about that :D Actually, in our municipality, during the december holidays, there are so many infringements and so few cops, that only the 15km/h+ get recorded. (and on occasion 20 and up). You'll be surprised at the human ingenuity when it comes to finding a excuse for not paying a fine. It looks like you are upset for been caught and not because of what you did. Don't worry, you are not alone. On the other hand, imagine how nice we all will enjoy our lifes with no cops around :D Or are you one of the people who likes the cops, as long as they enforce the law on everybody als :D

Just a question though.....

Who are we to assume that you didn't remove the things on the first photo ? (It can be done by a 3yo)

Any which way, you come on here and attack Gomario saying you where speeding, why did you get the photo then in the first place if that was not the case?

Just pay the damn fine and stop crying :p

What are you also a sheep (baaa)? Just because someone takes a pic you think they are guilty before being proven otherwise? You're also assuming the car was speeding? I don't quite understand how from a photo you managed to deduce that, were you there?
Perhaps some of us want to be sure that the proper process is being followed, rather than fall into line behind you, no questions asked.

OMG it's like talking to a brick wall. The post is about the legitimacy of the police changing the images when it suits them so that they are within the guidelines. No one can give a reason why? When you've got the police running around not knowing how to setup traps why should the public believe anything they receive in the post? Arrogance like yours proves exactly the point.
