I was a fan, they let me down.

For December I'm going to try Axxess Just Uncapped 4096 for R496 for 2 concurrent connections: http://www.axxess.co.za/internetuncapped.php.

I'll feedback here.

Doesnt sound any better than Mweb:

Acceptable User Policy - 24/7 *

10 day Rolling Window - If you're in Top 20% of IS users for the 384kbs, 512kbs and 1024kbs connection speeds, you will be shaped
User Policy applies 24/7, Weekends & Public Holidays
For the 4096kbps Accounts, if you're in Top 50% of IS users for this connection speed, you will be shaped

Well if you could convince everyone on that account to download a cr@p load of stuff, that threshold would be a lot higher... Or what say you?

Mass email and pvt dl trackers ftw ;)

Yes but I doubt anyone could do that. Whoever tries downloading more to push up the limit will be the first to be shaped to death, so I don't think many people will be keen. They'll just be ensuring their place in the top 50%.

How long were you an MWeb subscriber for?

From the start, including the free account before launch. Around March/April.

You may need to test your "greener pastures" ISP for more than one month, considering many people are away on holiday during December, so the network load patterns may be atypical.

Fair enough. Does anyone have data on loads in December vs the rest of the year? My common sense tells me that the load will decrease, but with all the idle people it may increase for all we know.

We should then see less Mweb comlaints during this time too, right?

I need around 200 GB per month for both connections in total. Is that likely to push me into the upper 50% of 4 Mbps uncapped accounts? I'm guessing no. But time will tell.

My first day with this account has been an absolute pleasure. Streaming works perfectly (incl sites that Mweb buffered badly). I'm getting full line speed on streaming and usenet.

Edit: note that was last night.

Good luck with Axxess.
Would definitely appreciate some form of feedback at end of the month.

Nice, could you let me know how much you end up pulling towards at the end of the month and how badly you get shaped/throttled?

I would actually think 200Gb will quite likely put you in the top half of users. Can't say for sure, but I don't see why any users who know they will be pulling large amounts of data would actually be on these accounts. Any other uncapped account would be better than this for say 200GB+ (or whatever puts you in the top 50%).

These accounts also have far fewer users than say MWeb's uncapped, they were only launched a few months ago even after the initial uncapped accounts came out. And 50% is a pretty large number.

I can see that these accounts make a lot of sense to all users who aren't using the accounts primarily for downloading but just want uncapped.

Downloaded 10 GB from usenet last night.

Well I think you can be pretty sure that <50% of their users aren't doing that.. you'll have to cool it within a week (I think that's when they review who's in the top 50%).

I've been with Openweb for 3 months now I think. Speed has been consistently good. The Vodacom backbone has really impressed me.

200gb will put you well into the top 50%. Unless everyone on these accounts are heavy downloaders, even half that will see you in the top 50%.

Got the same - was shocked to see the speeds yesterday - WAY ahead of MWEB... Hope it stays this way

Have you got data to back that up or is that a guess? I'd love to know what the numbers are ...

Anyway, time will tell. No risk really, I can move on next month if I cancel by the 25th.

If this account does work out for me then it's dirt cheap at R248/month/connection. (4 Mbps)
