Interesting story that private investigator Paul O'Sullivan has helped put two national police commissioners behind bars: https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/art...nal-police-commissioner-slayer-strikes-again/

It’s insane, really, that a private individual should have played a significant role in ensuring, in a little over 16 years, that two SAPS National Police Commissioners have found themselves in the dock accused of fraud and corruption. As former acting National Commissioner, Khomotso Phahlane, his wife and a Pretoria car dealer appeared in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes court on Thursday, forensic investigator Paul O’Sullivan vowed to continue exposing high-level corrupt cops and other officials who have captured SAPS and who have been running it like a branch of a criminal syndicate.

#KhomotsoPhahlane: Court papers list 'sponsored' luxury cars

Pretoria - Disgraced former acting national police commissioner Lieutenant-General Khomotso Phahlane, his wife Brigadier Beauty Ntombizodwa Phahlane and a Pretoria businessman Durandt Snyman were on Thursday released on R10 000 bail each.

The trio appeared in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Pretoria, on six charges of corruption, amounting to R900 000. Their matter has categorised as a schedule five offence - a serious crime category.

The Phahlanes are accused of contravening the provisions of the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act.

Some of the cars the Phahlanes received include a grey Landrover Discovery 4, a silver Nissan Navara, Toyota Hilux 3.0, a grey Mercedes Benz C250, a silver VW Polo, and a silver Ford Rover.

Keating, like Phahlane, denies any corrupt dealings and claimed Phahlane did not get his cars from him.

‘Strong enough case' against #KgomotsoPhahlane, wife‘Strong enough case' against #KgomotsoPhahlane, wife

Pretoria - The independent watchdog which probes crimes committed by members of the South African Police Service (SAPS), the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) on Thursday said there a strong case against former national police commissioner Lieutenant-General Kgomotso Phahlane who is facing at least six counts of corruption.

“Well, it’s a strong enough case, that is why people are charged and are appearing in court. If it wasn’t strong, they wouldn’t be appearing in court if it wasn’t strong. Which is what we have always been saying, that there is a strong case against the accused,” Ipid spokesperson Moses Dlamini spoke to journalists at the Specialised Commercial Crime Court in Pretoria.

“The NPA [National Prosecuting Authority] has agreed with us, and they have charged the accused.”

Gauteng NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwana said Phahlane “and two others” face charges of corruption and fraud.

Phahlane, his wife SAPS Brigadier Beauty Ntombizodwa Phahlane and a Pretoria businessman Durandt Snyman were on Thursday released on R10 000 bail each.

Additional suspects may be added in Phahlane corruption trial

Pretoria - More suspects could be added in the case against former acting national police commissioner Lieutenant-General Khomotso Phahlane, who has been charged with fraud, money laundering and corruption.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) said more suspects would appear alongside Phahlane when he and his co-accused return to court.

Phahlane appeared on Monday with his wife Beauty and businessman Durandt Snyman in the Specialised Commercial Crime Court in Pretoria. The matter was postponed to June 7 for further pre-trial procedures.

The trio are facing six charges of corruption amounting to R900 000.

They are also accused of contravening the provisions of the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act.

Police watchdog officials offered SAPS jobs to torpedo Phahlane investigation

Investigators tasked with probing former national police commissioner Lieutenant-General Khomotso Phahlane were offered South African Police Service (SAPS) jobs and other incentives to torpedo the case against the former top cop.

He said three officials from the police watchdog body – two investigators and one vetting officer – were offered positions in the SAPS in return for joining a “conspiracy” to undermine the IPID investigation into Phahlane.

They were also to “falsely implicate” McBride in racketeering activities.

Ex-top cop Phahlane's R84m fraud case delayed further

Johannesburg - The R84million fraud case involving former national police commissioner Lieutenant-General Khomotso Phahlane and several other high-ranking officers looks set to continue next year, despite accusations of State prejudice against the accused.
On Thursday in the Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crimes Court, sitting in Palmridge, the best efforts of Phahlane’s attorney, Piet du Plessis failed to convince Judge Brian Nemavhidi that the continuous delays in the multimillion-rand fraud and corruption case were prejudicial to his client.

This followed an application brought before the court by State prosecutor advocate Richard Chabalala for a postponement to next year, citing new evidence and the establishment of the National Prosecuting Authority’s Investigating Directorate as reasons for the prosecution needing another extension.

The State’s case against Phahlane and the senior officers relates to alleged tender irregularities in 2016 during the bidding process to install, among others, blue lights, sirens and radio equipment in Gauteng police vehicles.

The other accused are former Gauteng police head General Deliwe de Lange, Major-General Nombhuruza Napo, who is Gauteng’s current deputy police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Ramahlapi Mokwena, national divisional commissioner for supply chain management, Brigadier Ravi Pillay and Brigadier James Ramanjalum, SAPS head of procurement.

If the POS was white and used the K-word or referenced a small primate, he'd have a hefty fine and be serving time in jail by now.
Get over yourself mate. Plenty involved in graft without repercussions.
