Excel virus macro - Who has had one fo these?

After saving my workbook as a .xlsm I have now spent the last hour trying to get the macro's to work again...

While doing this I was fuming about how annoying this was an the question arose.... How many of you have ever had an excel virus/malicious macro? I have never had one of these..

In fact I found that the problem (according to excel) is that my anti virus is unable to scan locked workbooks for malicious software and excel, in the manner of over protective grandmothers and religious fringe communities, has therefore banned the entire lot from running.

A quick registry hack and its all works again... but really... is the average user in need of this kind of protection?

ILOVEYOU is probably the most famous of these types of "viruses". Although it wasn't VBA (it's VBS) the concept is the same.

A quick search turned up these: Melissa_(computer_worm) and Macro_virus_(computing)
