We have capacity to generate 45000MW, but load shedding kicks in at around 30000MW demand. So, yes, we should be generating excess and exporting, but, that 15000MW for whatever reason doesn't exist. Somehow we've 'lost' 15000MW of capacity. Yeah they say maintenance bla bla bla etc, but I call BS. How can 1/3 of capacity be in maintenance for just under a decade now? Lets say 5000MW is always in maintenance, that still puts us on 40000MW output. I'd say one of two things is happening. That 10000MW is either being sent up north at our expense, or, eskom hasn't turned it on for years so they can push the tariff price higher and higher every year.

We did... Until the ANC took over and thought they were clever by stopping development.
