Well for the moment let's assume it's true, unlike most of her testimony, considering she put out a cigarette on his face it could just be their love language

This has nothing to do with the divorce settlement. Heard made the claims and committed libel against Depp when she co-wrote the op-ed with the ACLU, and encouraged them to publish it, after the divorce was finalised.

I was disagreeing with Cerebus claim that Depp admitted to domestic violence in their divorce settlement. If that were true I think Heard's lawyers would have had enough evidence to prevent the defamation case from going to court.

Remember that a judge needed to decide whether Depp's lawyers had provided sufficient evidence to allow the defamation case to go to court, and Heard's lawyers also had to state their case before the same judge as to why they thought that the court case shouldn't go ahead.

My argument was, if there was written evidence of Depp acknowledging that he committed dv in his divorce settlement then why wouldn't Heard’s lawyers present it as evidence, and if they did then the judge didn't see it as an acknowledgement of dv. After all her statements couldn't be seen as libelous if Depp admitted to commiting dv.

In the state of Virginia, lodging an appeal requires you to show that you have the necessary funds with which to pay the damages cost, and in appealing the case to another court you have to show that you had intent to pay the damages awarded.

She can't claim bankruptcy, that's not going to work. She could borrow the money from someone, but she already owes $6m in legal fees.

Depp's lawyers have already implied that they are not going to make her pony up the money or garnish her wages. If she wants to appeal the case, Amber Heard has to come up with the money to pay the damages with interest in case she loses the appeal and is ordered to pay over even more money.

Even if AH appeals after borrowing money from a rich benefactor (*cough Elon cough*) I think its incredibly risky to go down this route. Imagine the further repetitional damage if she loses again (if thats even possible).

With that said, we only need to look at the bizarre interviews post trial to realise that AH doesnt follow a path of logical and rational thinking.

It will be quite glorious and ironic if JD wins the appeal and then donates the money to the causes AH said she was going to in the 1st place.
