Why did Amber not leave Johnny sooner, for example, after he raped her with a broken bottle? Usually, women who remain in abusive relationships, do so because they are dependant on the man, or without a social support network, etc. Amber was a millionaire celebrity with a strong social support network, frequently away from Johnny, and the trial has shown that she is quite feisty, not at all vulnerable and unsure of herself. So why did she just take it and take it for so long?
Do some research on abuse victims. It's very common.
NCADV | National Coalition Against Domestic Violence
NCADV is the voice of victims and survivors. We are the catalyst for changing society to have zero tolerance for domestic violence. We do this by affecting public policy, increasing understanding of the impact of domestic violence, and providing programs and education that drive that change.
Also do some research on reactive abuse. Ffs this stuff is so basic.
My personal theory is that a big factor for her staying is her parents. There are verified text messages from her going back to 2012 where she's already reporting abuse to her mother, before they even got married. Her dad regularly messaged Depp who would apologize for beating her up. They encouraged her to stay and try to work it out. It's pretty sick.
