I've googled this, and I find results (with solid research reference) that says its a myth, and then I find loads of sites promoting that Exercising Your Eyes improves your vision.

Which side should we believe? And where can we find the real facts?

Aparently it helps astigmatism and other malfunctions...
As for near and far sightedness, it helps maintain the eyes but doubt it will cure it.

Unless you actually have a lazy eye (strabismus, I think it's called) exercising your eyes isn't really going to help.

Are you talking about strengthening the eyeball muscles, or the eye itself (i.e. focusing far and near)?

It can't help with astigmatism - that's a corneal issue. Even near and farsightedness, I very much doubt it if it would do anything at all.

What exactly did they say was a myth?

Your eyes move around and focus thanks to muscles attached to the eyeball. Like all other muscle a litle bit of excercise does them good.

Learnt this from doing yoga. There are various yoga excercises for working out your eye muscles.

Going for a walk everyday isn't going to cure cancer, but that's not a good reason not to go for a walk everyday.

it does afaik, improves eyesight and reading speed as well.

its basically moving your eyes in this order: upper left - lower right - upper right - lower left then up - down - up - down - left - right - left - right

i did it at a speed reading course a long time ago

That's the one, the other is to focus on your nose, then focus far away, nose, far away, nose, far away....

If you sit in front of a computer all day, eye exercises definately helps with eye strain.

It definitely helps with eye strain, but I very much doubt it will improve your vision.
