Experts weigh in on rooftop solar incentive plans for South Africa

Unfortunate that I just spent 210K ZAR on solar panels, inverters and batteries. Not installed yet. So would this be back dateable?
Unfortunately not judging by the past. I have been holding back since I heard about it months ago. If the experts get their way then prices will be cheaper for the suppliers.

As prices have become cheaper around the globe and ours have increased, it is unlikely we will see any of that. They should be implementing a rebate system as they did before (I got a heatpump then which reduced my geyser cost by 60%). The installer credited me and claimed the money back.

Exchange rate maybe?
Not sure things have got that much more expensive in USD. But saying that I completely agree -- any drop in supply side pricing is unlikely to reduce end user pricing, given current supply/demand dynamics.

Prices have definitely dropped in the US and our prices have increased due to demand. And one wonders who has to gain from problems at power stations?

Remember how the same happened with COVID. Demand for PPE soared and people made huge profits because of it.

Nah, our prices have increased due to ZAR/USD.
Here's the past year

Shows how out of touch the experts are. As an importer of PV Panels, LFP batteries and inverters, there is no duty payable on these items. So no relief there. Tax break is the only way.

USD/ZAR lost +- 22% value year-on-year
Tell me how much the pricing of batteries/inverters/solar panels have increased by during the same time period?
Solar suppliers are gouging the market due to the large demand for all items 'solar' related!

They just want you to buy in/ register so they can n@@i you later.

I don’t trust governments, i trust this one f-all.
