Explorer...

This is a really weird problem.

When I start up, explorer.exe doesn't load. Actually it does but no toolbar, icons, etc appear (only the background pic), so I gotta hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, end the explorer.exe process and then run explorer.exe manually. This is really whacked.

I've tried to add explorer to the startup (silly, I know) and disabling all other startup progs and services (besides microsoft's ones) and still nothing good yet.
Help.....

Remove the explorer.exe from the startup entry, select a normal startup again. When your system halts on the desktop, press control-alt-del, select users tab, disconnect and logoff the current user, then reboot the system.

Just try it ;)

Ok teraside, I tried that and it didn't work. Will try one more time.

My brother has almost the exact same pc as mine. And he had the same problem. I did something on his and now it works fine. I just can't remember what.

The chances of it being a virus are slim, cos I just setup this pc from scratch a few days back. That's also why I assume that re-installing xpo is not going to solve it.

The workaround I gave is basically what happens when you install SP2 on a system from Pre SP1 or from SP1, it should work for SP2 the same way. I tried it the other day when it happened on my pc, it did the trick.

Actually, I discovered that the problem was the result of a virus. Winparite32.B or something like that. I sorted it out now. So thanks for all your support.
