Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait, you didn’t say it was a Land Rover, and especially not the 3 liter diesel, please do not buy that car at all. Oh no don’t make that mistake, it’s going to cost you big time.
I really hope you haven’t signed anything.
On a slight tangent, how can one see if there is already smash & grab coating on the windows?
He said Discovery 4 in the original post.
I hope for his sake it isn't the Diesel.
U can tell the difference if u know what to look for. find a place that does that kind of work and see it yourself. On a slight tangent, how can one see if there is already smash & grab coating on the windows?
Oh I missed that part, I really hope he hasn’t signed, this could ruin him financially.
Now it makes sense why the warranty covers up to R35k, they already know that engine has problems that cost R150k to fix.
Yeah, I don't get how LR got away with no recall against this. Now theres just a bunch of people thinking they're getting good deals.
The crankshafts-made-of-rice-crackers issue was solved in the Disco 4. It's the TDV6s in the Disco 3 that you want to stay well clear of.
I heard that a new engine sub-assembly was something like R150k from LR.

just something for you to read during your lunch break.OP, avoid the tracking device if it is not a necessity specified by your insurer. If it is, ask the insurer what the tracker waiver costs. In my case, it was cheaper to select the tracker-waiver than it was to pay for the tracking service each month.
Stay away from the Motorite (or any other) extended warranty for the reasons mentioned by others already, specifically the limits of the cover. Another poster has already mentioned that several third-party warranty providers will only cover up to R35k for a major engine-related issue. It is better to self-insure in that case - put as much money into savings as you can each month as an emergency fund for vehicle-related expenses. If the vehicle doesn't break before you sell it, you'll have yourself a nice holiday budget at the end.
You can get the window tinting done elsewhere of your own choosing - and probably find it cheaper that way, too.
people might laugh but this is actually good advice. A picanto will be better than the ticking time bomb.Get a picanto
That's odd because I read on the very same forum that if a buyer wants a diesel Disco, they should rather get a Disco 4 than a Disco 3 because the crankshaft issue had at least been attended to. Thanks for the thread.just something for you to read during your lunch break.

Hmmm maybe you misread somewhere, i know that if you want a diesel disco, the best one to buy is the petrol one. That's odd because I read on the very same forum that if a buyer wants a diesel Disco, they should rather get a Disco 4 than a Disco 3 because the crankshaft issue had at least been attended to.
