maybe you should purchase a better aerial for the billion, correct me if i am wrong  the billion has detacheable aerials ... the aerials are quite cheap +-R150
well unless there's a factory fault with his router, I doubt it's the router's fault. I've tested mine where I was about 50m away from the router and the signal had to go through 2 walls

Windows shows the signal to be 5 bars when I'm this close (ie 1 meter away) but the speed still drops, and I get disconnected.

I should actually get ahold of another wireless device and test incase it is actually my laptop.

But this morning I wake up with the entire network offline, my laptop and wireless PCs had zero connectivity! Had to turn the router on and off before anything would work again.

I'm seriously thinking about throwing this router at Digital Planet, or Billion, and buying myself something cheaper, which will probably work better.

Well I got it yesterday, but it didn't actually come with an invoice, althought it should have a 2-year warranty.

I must actually email Digital Planet about that.

I'll still keep it for a while.. Will see if it works better maybe when it has an ADSL account. Or when I have it setup in bridge mode like I'm planning to have it.

Hi Azgard

Did you upgrade the router with the 1.09 F/W from the Billionsa website?

Can you please forward us your contact details to support@billionsa.com and we will get back to you ASAP about this problem.

Ya I did upgrade the router with that F/W.

Sure I'll forward my details there :) Nice to see some support.

It does seem to be working a little better today, but it still does continually get disconnected every few hours, haven't been able to find anything that might be causing interference either :(

Have forwarded my details BILLION_Tech.

Found another problem this morning when I got up. I was completely unable to connect wirelessly to the router without restarting the router from another PC :(

Some wireless cards are better than others depending on the chipset involved ... had hassles with a Broadcom AP at home and switched to an Atheros solution (router+card) and it worked like a charm.

Nice to know I'm not alone.. now I'm more sure that it's the router causing the problem.

I have built-in Intel wireless, it is the latest version I checked today.

Someone from Billion Tech Support did contact me this morning, but didn't have any solution yet except for me to update the wireless card drivers.

cjh what wireless card are you using? Not an Intel is it?

My laptop has an Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG adapter, but it's the Netgear PCI card in my wife's PC that gives the most hassles, although I'm running latest drivers on both.

That's the same wireless adapter that's in my laptop. Seems really strange.

I got an email this morning as well saying they are working on the problem.

I have in the past experienced similar problems with 1 or 2 other brands. Try to change the wifi channel. I changed mine from 1 to 7 and the wifi speed and quality improved immensely.

I've been going through the channels from 1, whenever I notice a lot of disconnects then I change the channel, so far it seems to be getting better. But I do still get a few disconnections. Using wired LAN for the moment though, much more stable.

Drivers

Hi Guys

Have you all gone and downloaded the newest Centrino's driver and if so is it over 9.01X?

If Azgard & cjh will comment on this.

Thanks

I'm using 9.0.1.9

I can't comment too much on recent usage with my router though, because since I still don't have ADSL, I'm not on the home network much.

However, my wife's Netgear card is giving endless grief (latest drivers)

Touch wood, I should have DSL by next week (ha ha) at which point I'll be able to give more informed info
