LOL

Sebastian Vettel has been summoned to see US GP stewards over an alleged red-flag offence during Practice One.

If he is found guilty of failing to slow sufficiently, Vettel risks a costly grid penalty for Sunday's race when title rival Lewis Hamilton could wrap up the world championship.

At the previous race in Japan, Force India's Esteban Ocon was handed a three-place grid drop for failing to slow for red flags in practice. Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo was given the same sanction at the Australian GP.

'Alleged breach of Article 31.6 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations, car 5 failing to slow sufficiently during a Red Flag period in Practice 1 at 10:40,' read the stewards' summons.

Vettel met with the stewards ahead of Practice Two in Austin.

The red flag was thrown during a rain-hit opening practice session after the Sauber of Charles Leclerc brought gravel onto the circuit after spinning in the slippery conditions.

They have sent Vettel out to Learn how to drive in the wet.
Probably have enough time to rebuild the Car before Quali :sneaky:

He’s only 6 seconds behind Hamilton again, he’s really trying very hard...

It is a bit harsh, effectively handing the Drivers WC to Hamilton, though.

Except it’s not harsh, it’s the minimum punishment if they’re going to be consistent.

Speeding under reds has been at least a 3 place penalty in the previous cases.

Ocon got it at the last race, didn’t he?

Yes, but Ocon is a Mercedes Driver, Ferrari drivers are historically given more leeway or even immunity.

You know there’s already an ocean of Ferrari tears flowing tonight? They’re going to be dehydrated by tomorrow and you’re just rubbing it in even further :p

This doesn't give the title to Hamilton as much as being in the lead and wrecking your car because you can't take a corner under no pressure.

Besides, three places? It doesn't mean that much if he starts well and overtakes on the first corner.

Assuming he qualified on Pole . He is more likely to qualify 2nd or 3rd and drop to 6th.

You mean to say that despite speeding under red flag conditions, Seb was still 6 seconds off the pace?

Sebastian Vettel claimed he was not concerned by rain at Austin because "If our car's quick, it will be quick when it's dry and when it's wet"
