Vettel was pretty unphased. I guess he knows they have the car to beat. We wont likely see another one like that.

Armin van Buuren to become a permanent fixture in the Red bull garage after this race
Clearly he has a positive affect on the team . Rebuilding engine in record time , two double pit stops in record time .

What's annoying is the Ferrari is clearly the faster car right now but is being let down by !@#$ strategy calls. Mercedes have 2 options right now and are using them.

1. Over-cut and switch to a one stop, like last weekend. Which would have worked if Bottas had taken his chance and Ham had stopped whining long enough to listen to the radio.
2. Under-cut like today, which did work.

Even more annoyingly the Ferrari is lighter on it's tyres so all they have to do is break the undercut time, they both had plenty stint 1 pace to do this today but didn't, and then wait for Merc to pit and react.

This merc tactic of switching the race to a one stop is going to continue, it's going to give plenty of opportunity for Red Bull to go aggressive like today and steal more races. Ferrari will just follow what Mercedes does, they don't need to get fancy and will get caught out by RB too.

The most nervous okes in the RB garage in the closing stages would've been the Renault engineers. I think if Danny Ric's engine had let go, there would've been some sneaky scurrying out of the back door...

Wasn't the safety car called as the leaders darted onto the pit straight? That really hampered the front runners.

Max did man up and take the blame. He was lucky to not get a harsher penalty like Marquez did last weekend.

They didn't have the opportunity to gain an advantage as did RedBull but the safety car was out for several laps, plenty of time to pit for fresh tires. Mercedes were scared of losing a place to Ricciardo, but in the end they lost the race to him due to old tires. Even Toto Wolf is now saying they should have come in and that the team made the wrong call.

If you pit under safety car you give up track position and will be in last place. The best result (passing the entire field) would then be finishing behind the Red Bulls (if Max didn't crash).

They drove right past the SC lights near the pit entrance AFAIK. I think they just had less time to call it (Merc).
