Paul di Resta tells Sky Sports News: "I'm not surprised. If we hadn't had that decision in Canada, I don't think anybody would've questioned it. It was 50-50, and I sat on the fence based on that decision.
"This is racing and you need to get your muscles out. It's a shame for Charles as he was a little hard done by, but at the same time, if there wasn't the tarmac there he probably would've backed out of it.
"There was a massive round of applause here when the decision was announced, at the home of Red Bull racing."
Di Resta adds: "The drivers were able to go up and give evidence against what they thought, and it was always going to be a hard one to get right.
"The drivers' steward Tom Kristensen is respected by everybody as a seven-time Le Mans winner. Ferrari were hard done by in Canada, and there's no right or wrong answer - one team was always going to end up being upset."
