Wondering if with all the sport going on yesterday (cricket, tennis, two golf tournaments, IRT, SBK, Afcon etc), there just wasn't an available slot to air the replay. I often miss a race (whether it is F1 or MotoGP) due to golf or running so I also watch the replay which is usually on the same evening.
That was a night for sport, wasn't it. Epic cricket and tennis.

‘High voltage’ power unit problem meant Albon couldn’t pit on safety grounds

Alexander Albon narrowly missed out on a point at Silverstone, after being passed by Renault’s Nico Hulkenberg in the dying stages, leaving many asking why Toro Rosso left him on a one-stop strategy after the safety car, forcing him to complete a marathon 39 laps on medium tyres. Turns out they had no choice…

An electrical issue with Albon’s power unit meant suppliers Honda deemed it unsafe for the team to allow the Thai driver to pit, forcing him to stay out on the less favourable, yellow-marked Pirellis, rather than switch to the optimal hard tyre.

“Unfortunately, Alex dropped out of the points in the closing stages, as he was unable to make the second tyre stop that he needed,” said Toyoharu Tanabe, Honda F1 Technical Director.

“This was PU-related, as the data showed a high voltage issue, so we told the team it was inadvisable to make a second stop on safety grounds. Of course, we will now analyse this issue very carefully.”

Always happy to see Frank, a shame they aren't doing to good though.

Indeed. The last of his kind as well, an F1 privateer that built his team up from the ground. To think he funded his first foray in to F1 as a travelling grocery salesman and at one point he was making business calls from a public phone booth because he was unable to pay his bills.

Indeed yeah, he also built custom race cars to order for a number of people in the early days, some were good enough they didn't change from season to season, Frank didn't tell the customer though:laugh:
He also saw a lot of success in procuring and selling parts as I understand it, which was where he implemented the name first time round I think.

From https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/new-f1-car-design-rules-2021/4496319/

Formula 1 is committed to ‘ground effect’ for the new 2021 car, with the sport’s chiefs convinced that the return of the aero concept is key to helping cars race closer together.
With discussions now underway between F1, the FIA and teams to finalise new regulations aimed at overhauling grand prix racing, the first firm details about the plans for the 2021 have emerged.

As Giorgio Piola’s illustration of what a 2021 car could look like shows, the new rules revolve around a complete change of approach to how a car produces downforce. The idea is to rid the sport of the complex aerodynamic devices that are dominant nowadays, especially in the wing and bargeboard area. There will be, for example, a much simpler and less sensitive front wing.

But the biggest change is taking place underneath the car – with a series of Venturi tunnels feeding a deep twin diffuser that will produce much of the car’s downforce. The concept is similar to what we previously saw in F1, pioneered by Lotus in the late 1970s (as shown below), before being banned in 1983.

Still just a rumour but a move like this wouldn't be at all surprising...

‘Grosjean to be fired, Haas keen on Ocon’

Silverstone was the final nail in Romain Grosjean’s Haas coffin with the Frenchman set to be fired in favour of signing Esteban Ocon, or so the rumour mill says.

Grosjean is once again another struggling for form but while last year that meant one crash too many for the stewards, putting him on the cusp of a one-race ban, this year he has made too many mistakes for team boss Guenther Steiner’s liking. Bagging just two points in nine races, Grosjean reverted to Haas’ Australian Grand Prix spec for the British Grand Prix in hope of getting to the bottom of the lack of speed. That plan, though, came to naught when the Frenchman and his team-mate Kevin Magnussen crashed on the opening lap. Both drivers would retired before lap 10 as a result of the damage.

Team boss Steiner was furious, announcing that both drivers were in “trouble” and that he didn’t even give them chance to defend themselves in the post-race briefing, instead telling – probably with a few cuss words involved – how “unacceptable” their antics were. According to the F1’s latest rumour, that race may have be Grosjean’s last with the team. A Reddit user, who claims to have access to people in the know, says he has heard that team owner Gene Haas has given Steiner permission to drop Grosjean and open talks with Mercedes reserve driver Ocon. “What I’m hearing is that after the British GP, Steiner was furious at the drivers, blew up at them (for obvious reasons) and phoned Gene Haas for permission to fire a driver,” wrote F1ThrowawayF1.

“Word in the paddock is that they are looking at Ocon to replace Grosjean. If possible, by the next grand prix. “That’s all I can say for now. If this turns out to be correct, I’ll be back with more.” Ocon was sidelined this year after failing to secure a 2019 drive.

The Frenchman though has made it clear his goal is to return to the F1 grid with Toto Wolff revealing Mercedes are willing to cut ties with the driver if that’s what it takes.
