Mercs are prepping for the race as usual. Harder tyres and longer runs. I doubt they'll run soft during the race unless it's for the bonus point. Quali is going to be interesting. They might not be on top for that.

The Mercedes Pit crew look fantastic in Period costume.
The Engineers are in suits and the mechanics in shirts and slacks with caps rather than helmets.

Poor Vettel. He cops a lot of flak but when a top line team like Ferrari can't even produce him a reliable car, there's not much he can do.

Sorry, I got back from work just to see the tail end of the broadcast.
Could somebody give a TL:DR please.

Sorry, I got back from work just to see the tail end of the broadcast. Could somebody give a TL:DR please.

if I interpret "TL:DR" correctly here goes:

Ferrari were top of the Time sheets in all 3 practice sessions and Mercedes were struggling with pace and setup with both cars exhibiting handling issues in P3.

Quali started with Ferrari expected to outpace Mercedes by at least .5 second.

Vettel had a turbo failure in Q1 then Leclerc was topping the time sheets with Verstappen second in Q2 when Leclerc had a Fuel supply failure.

Hamilton subsequently took pole, Verstappen 2nd, Bottas 3rd and Gasly 4th.

Ferrari were Hero to Zero and the first two rows were now Mercedes / Red Bull.

Several thousand people in identical red shirts were crying in the grandstands and Toto went to give Mattia a hug.

:) Not sure what happened there, T L : D R :)

Thank you @caroper , excellent summary makes me feel like I watched it!
My mates in red are going to need a Red Bull or two to give them some wings then. Should be interesting.
I heard yesterday they are predicting rain, so I hope Vettel gets some rubber tyres instead of the plastic ones.

These issues Ferrari are experiencing are not in the race or we will have a dull GP. I'm surprised to see the Red Bull so close to Mercedes.

Max had to abort his first flying lap in Q3 and put soft tyres on for that time. He apparently had an issue with a new engine mode - losing power.
Lewis was sick as well which is why he struggled to get out at the end. He was visibly wiped out. Merc were ready to put Ocon into the car.
