Interesting opinion I came across regarding the Bottas decision over Ocon; Ocon had a history of clashes and a frosty relationship with Perez. After the Hamilton-Rosberg feud I reckon that Mercedes have looked at more than just driver ability. Hamilton is happy with Bottas and there is no on-track or off-track drama between the two.

Ocon to exit the Mercedes program and join Renault. That's where I'd put my 50 bucks.

Russell to be a Mercedes driver in 2021/2022.

Hot off the press Kimi has pulled a muscle during the summer break, but he will be in the car tomorrow.

Haas Formula 1 team principal Gunther Steiner has named the three main candidates to partner Kevin Magnussen in the outfit's driver line-up for 2020.
...

Having indicated that Magnussen's 2020 contract will be honoured, Steiner named Renault driver Nico Hulkenberg and Mercedes protege Esteban Ocon as two drivers who were being considered by Haas alongside incumbent Grosjean for the other seat.

"There's not many drivers - I always said to you, we always said that our dream was always to have a driver with experience, so for sure there's interest [in Hulkenberg].

"There's interest in Ocon, I always said that they are the two. And there's interest for Romain as well. So we just need to decide who we go with."

Sky News has just confirmed that Bottas has been retained at Mercedes for 2020.

Valtteri Bottas staying at Mercedes for F1 2020 season
Bottas gets the nod for another season at F1's world champions - with Esteban Ocon now looking likely to join Renault

Happy to see Bottas staying at Mercedes. I'd like to see him win more races this year.
I didn't really like the way someone at the press conference today asked Max if he thinks he can have a go at Hamilton for the rest of the season. The guy didn't say Mercedes, he said Hamilton... completely ignoring Bottas who was sitting right there.
Bottas has had a good season, and it's a bit irritating that he's not getting enough credit from the media.
The best driver of this generation is having the best season of his career in the best car on the grid ... and Bottas has still beaten him 3 times out of 12!
To Whom it May Concern : Throw the man a frikkin bone.

Bottas is much like Rosberg though. He can't win a championship unless he has the best car on the grid and his partner has issues. It's not the most exciting thing in the world.

I'd much rather see what someone like George Russell can do. Not a bad chance Mercedes feels the same but doesn't want to risk inflicting upon themselves what happened at Red Bull.

There are so few competitive seats in F1 - it's not unreasonable for fans of the sport to insist that only championship calibre drivers sit in them.

Found this clip on reddit.

Gives you an idea of how loud the V8s were. A field of V10s must've made ears bleed.
