He has the skill but not sure yet. Let’s talk at the end of the year

He has proven to do well under pressure. Better than his teammate. Look at his start to the last race. Fell to 3rd and manage to keep cool and then give Hamilton a 10 second gap. That is a WC winner right there...

Yes, but is he consistent? Is the car? How will he cope with Hamilton on his wing?

I know he’s great, but he’s relatively inexperienced in F1 and he’s going against Lewis and Vettel, tough company.

Too many unknowns after just one race, but the future is bright.

Well, after two races. ;)

I hear what you're saying; time will tell who is right. If I was a betting man, I'd be betting on him - at the very least, coming 2nd this season.

He was very consistent and an absolute pleasure to watch in F2.
The Speed of Hamilton, the late breaking of Ricciardo and the nerve of Verstappen - but without the recklessness.
If Ferrari give him a reliable car and back off on the Team Orders I would rate him as favorite for this year not next.

Mercedes had to modify its new front wing prior to opening practice for the Chinese GP following an FIA ruling that it did not comply with the rules.
The team's new front wing had been seen for the first time on Thursday, featuring a reworked, shorter endplate.

This endplate exposed the profile of the uppermost element, aiming to strengthen the outwash effect produced by the wing.

However, the 2019 FIA technical regulations go some way to forbidding this practice, stating that those profiles must be bounded by a "virtual endplate surface".

In the aftermath of the Monegasque driver’s near-miss in Sakhir, Ferrari announced they had traced the fault to a “short circuit within an injection control unit”, adding that “this type of problem had never been seen before on the component in question”.

Leclerc will run the same engine in China, but both he and Vettel (and both Haas drivers) will use a previous specification of control electronics.

“What we did here in China was simply to revert to an old specification,” said Binotto. “A specification we know pretty well – we have good statistics in terms of quality and hopefully that will be sufficient.”

Chinese GP: Alfa installed Giovinazzi's engine incorrectly in FP1
Alfa Romeo team boss Frederic Vasseur says Antonio Giovinazzi was forced to miss the opening Chinese Grand Prix practice session because the team installed his Formula 1 car's engine incorrectly.

Giovinazzi was only able to complete an installation lap in the morning session before being stopped in the garage when the team discovered a fault it had not detected during the car build. The team had to remove the power unit entirely and refit it before Giovinazzi could return to action in FP2. "We had an issue on the installation of the engine, and we had to pull away the engine," Vasseur told Autosport. "It was too long to do it during the FP1. "It's a shame because it was a mistake and he missed the first FP1. It's so tight, so it's difficult to recover."

Vasseur said that the installation error had not caused the engine any damage, but added there was still some frustration that it had cost track time for Giovinazzi, who is chasing his first points of the year. "We couldn't run it like this and we had to stop," he said. "It's frustrating for everybody because from the beginning of the year he showed that the pace is there, that he was very fast in Melbourne in Q1, did a better lap time than Kimi's overall or was more or less the same. "He did the race in Bahrain, the pace was there; in quali, did a small mistake at the end of the lap but was a bit faster than Kimi. "He's trying to put everything together and the team didn't help him today honestly, but it's not at all with Antonio."

This Italian interviewer they have is awkward. She clearly battles with English, surely F1 can afford to get someone with good command of the language for their English bits?

Also, I like this Albon kid. Very humble, very honest.

Great qualifying session! Ferraris found something at the end which will be crucial for their race tomorrow. If they have a power and speed advantage down the straights as many say they do, then we could see some fun and games into the hairpin at turn 14. Can't wait!
