Almost forgot to post the points roundup for the weekend, I’m sure people wanting to see how well Ferrari are doing (like @Icemanbrfc ) will have missed it :cool:.

From the get go Leclerc was the fastest driver on track on medium tyres while the front runners were on soft.
When Bottas after pitting started to chip away at his time Leclerc should have been pitted and come out 2 seconds behind Vettel. A win was insight.
NB: He is now the lap record holder.

A win would only have been in sight if the SC was deployed. I know there is a free pass on hating Ferrari's strategy but on Sunday they did nothing wrong, they were simply not fast enough. Who knows what might have happened if LeClerc didnt bin it on Saturday.

Dan is right, the strategy needed a safety car. They banked on going long then doing a 12 second stop behind a safety car rather than a 23 second stop normally. It was a good call seeing as the race in the morning had 4 safety cars in 14 laps. I don't think anyone would have bet on No safety cars - Bert Mylander was probably board to tears sitting in the Pit lane.

Where Ferrari blew it was leaving him out once the window had closed rather than cutting the losses and getting him back out on fresh rubber. To my mind that was a deliberate move to make sure he could not threaten vettel.

not such a huge follower of f1 but take a gander every so often and always find f1 is so boring --- one team dominating all the time -- first it was mclaren, williams then ferrari...then redbull...not merc. they really need to do something to make this competitive.

Nothing is boring about watching Ferrari play wingman to Mercadiese and hold off RedBull :sneaky::whistling:

Wolff linked with Carey’s F1 CEO role after 2020

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has been tipped as a potential successor to Chase Carey as Formula 1’s CEO once his current contract with the Silver Arrows expires.

According to RaceFans.net and their sources, Wolff is reportedly considering his future with Mercedes as the team principal. His current deal runs until the end of the 2020 season, the same time as Carey’s contract as CEO and chairman of Liberty Media is also due to expire. There is due to be a changing of the guard at Mercedes, with current CEO Dieter Zetsche set to step down at the end of May and replaced by Ola Källenius, a strong supporter of electric cars and Mercedes’ entry into Formula E in 2020. The departure of Zetsche and the imminent arrival of Källenius, with Wolff’s relationship with the latter said to be not the most healthy, are the reported possible factors in the 47-year-old Austrian considering his future.

RaceFans have also reported that Wolff’s 30 per cent stake in the team, along with Niki Lauda’s 10 per cent share, is subject to a pull option which would allow Mercedes to reacquire the total 40 per cent. Carey was due to step down as CEO at the end of the 2019 season, but signed a 12-month extension to help with the transition towards the new regulations coming into effect in 2021. Carey is expected to remain part of the picture as chairman post-2020, which has created a possible job opportunity for Wolff. RaceFans asked Formula 1 to comment on the situation, but a spokesperson declined.
