Latifi in, Kubica out at Williams?

Robert Kubica’s Formula 1 return could yet prove to be short-lived with reports linking test driver Nicholas Latifi to his race seat. Kubica returned to the Formula 1 grid at this year’s Australian Grand Prix, having signed a deal to race for Williams. His comeback, though, has been anything but successful. Williams have struggled for pace with Kubica and his team-mate George Russell fighting over 19th place. That battle has consistently gone Russell’s way with the rookie not only edging the Polish driver in qualifying but also beating him in all five grands prix.

Kubica had initially stated that he believes there is something wrong his chassis compared to Russell’s. However, when the latter was handed Kubica’s chassis for the Spanish GP, he still beat him. This has led to reports that Kubica’s days with Williams could be numbered. According to Canadian newspaper Le Journal de Montreal, test driver Latifi is being lined up as a possible replacement. While Kubica has struggled this year, Latifi has shone in Formula 2 taking three wins on his way to the lead in the championship. The report adds that “Kubica reportedly had a clause in his contract stating that he could be replaced during the season.” Latifi will have another opportunity to show Williams what he can do in an F1 car as he is scheduled to drive the FW42 on both days of this week’s Spanish test.

Must be a massive learning curve for him, from the cars he was accustomed to in 2011 to the now much different cars especially engine and power wise of today.

Yeah, the minute Kubica started talking about differences in the chassis and not understanding how he was slower I figured there was no hope he'd improve.

*yawn*

I did say a long while ago that it was a mistake to put him back in an F1 car.

Get Ocon in that seat ASAP!!!

Well Ocon is arguably the best seatless driver out there and is a Mercedes prodigy, a perfect fit for a Mercedes team like Williams and Toto will probably let them have him for Free.

Already sounds good re: Zandvoort.

Last month, Red Bull's Max Verstappen said that another reason the layout would need to be changed would be to facilitate better racing.

"It is a very challenging circuit," he said. "If F1 is coming, they will need to change a few things to make sure we can follow each other.

"Right now we have so much downforce that it is difficult to follow. And Zandvoort is known as a circuit where following other cars is not that easy.

"So if it is coming, it would be helpful to change a few corners. But generally it's a superb track to drive on."

Scalextric.

Plus they're going to trash the first corner. Right now you drop in to it and it has banking to it. Jan Lammers - head of the team overseeing the upgrades - said they are going to raise the main straight for better visibility from the grandstands and flatten the corner out.

Red Bull have 2 races they can win next year it seems. Ferrari should also do well as the curbs are mostly nonexistent.

A Formula One car was sent to the home of a five-year-old boy with a rare form of terminal cancer after he inspired Lewis Hamilton's victory in the Spanish Grand Prix.

Harry Shaw, from Redhill, Surrey, sent Hamilton a good luck message on Instagram from his hospital bed.

The youngster has since moved back to his home for his final days.

Hamilton described Harry as his "spirit angel" as he dedicated his victory to him on Sunday.

Mercedes later arranged for one of its cars to be flown to Harry's home, where he is also expected to be presented with Hamilton's winning trophy from the Barcelona race.

It’s a pity all big name sports stars and sports teams weren’t this good with their fans.
