Lance Stroll’s shock pole position at the Turkish Grand Prix is under threat for a possible yellow flag infringement.
The Canadian racer came out on top at the end of a thrilling Q3 at Istanbul Park,
claiming pole position for the first time in his career with a 1:47.765 in the
Racing Point RP20.
However, the stewards could be about to pull the plug on any celebrations.
They have summoned
Stroll to their office after he allegedly failed to slow at Turn 7 despite the yellow flags on his pole lap.
He will meet with them at 18:30 Turkish time and he could well be hit with a grid penalty that costs him that first pole position.
According to reports, Stroll was told “that was a single yellow so keep pushing” on his pole lap. The incident which triggered them is believed to be Sergio Perez’s slide into the gravel in the other Racing Point.
