" F2 driver Jack Aitken will take over George Russell's car for the first practice session for the Styrian GP as he gets his first taste of both the Williams FW43 and driving in an official session during an F1 weekend

Aitken had plenty of opportunities to sample F1 machinery during his time at Renault but, now that he’s a Williams reserve driver, has yet to try out the FW43. That’ll all change on Friday though as Jack will jump into Russell’s car (his former teammate at ART in GP3 and F2) to complete the FP1 session for the team. ..."

It is a real shame to see politics enter Formula 1. It is bad enough to have such a dominating team as Mercedes.
As far as Hamilton is concerned: If he is such a supporter of anti-racism where are his black mechanics and team leaders? Less talk and more do as talk is cheap.
Seams like double standards to me.

Let us all hold thumbs that Ferrari can produce a competitive car for LeClerc. He has awesome talent and it would be lovely to see him and Verstappen head to head - I doubt any of the teams will challenge Mercedes, so I will ignore them.

Well, a valid point to be sure. Do bear in mind, Hamilton is a race driver, he isn't in HR and so most likely doesn't do recruiting, pit stops are just too short to fit in an interview unfortunately.

What he can do, is make a call for diversity and attempt to push the sport in that direction. The obvious follow-on from that, assuming people agree with him, is to consider their current payroll and see how they can diversify. One thing to bear in mind though, the teams (besides Mercedes and Ferrari anyway), don't have unlimited budgets. An additional hire means either an additional salary, or getting rid of one of their existing crew. Now it would be unfair to fire John so you can hire Denzel and they'd get cremated if they did that. So they either don't renew contracts, or they fire people like the pit guy who doesn't put wheels on properly.

Transformation will take some time, it isn't something that can be done overnight without harming others, which would then become self-defeating.

Mercedes managed to redo their livery, overalls, t-shirts - essentially all marketing material, so budget is not the problem. Does he not trust other pit crew?

YOU HAVE TO PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH.

Ferrari.
I hope the updates make them more competitive, but sadly they indicated the updates planned were aero updates and their problem is engine power : no speed in a straight line.

Did you read the entire post or just the part you wanted to argue?

I'm hoping it makes a good difference. The parts are aero, but they've stated they currently run a high downforce package which will limit speed. If they can maintain decent grip and stability with lower overall downforce, they'll gain some speed. At least it's something until they can fix the power issue.

They certainly looked better pace wise with the harder tires so maybe the increased down force works well with the grip levels of the tyres..

Guys, power unit development is frozen for the season. Whatever a team pitched up with at Austria is what they will be using for the rest of the year

Ah OK, wasn't aware of that .... I suppose it makes sense given the uncertainty around length of the season
