Let's be honest, Lulu should really not have been where he was when Max hit the brakes. If indeed he was slowing down because of a potential track hazard ahead, surely hiding under the rear wing of the car in front isn't going to help you see what's coming any better?

No idea, I'm not an F1 driver but I don't think it breaks any rules.

Stamping on your brakes to cause the car behind to drive into the back of you is against the rules though...

Red Bull boss Christian Horner says Formula 1 race director Michael Masi’s offer of changing grid positions in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was like something from the "souk".

So it is agreed then.
Max should do a Mick (Snr).
That move left Damon so destroyed.
Still gets PTSD to this day.

Sometimes I wonder why it's worth the hassle posting factual reports when people parrot on the same idiotic nonsense that's been rebutted pages ages ago...

OK, there was an accident... Better? Max was still trying to let him past even tho he was stupid about it.

Doesn't change the course of events

Nah, Max was trying to take them both out.
What do you suppose happens if you decelerate to the tune of 2.4G while someone is right behind you?

Happens on the roads all the time.

When some other vehicle is climbing all over your rear, people tap the brakes - pass me or back off.

You're still conveniently forgetting the brake test...
I've seen these guys do bumper to bumper racing with crashes happening right in front of them and managing to avoid it. Lewis pulls up behind a "crazed reckless Crashtappen" and suddenly cannot avoid him.

The 2.4G number is nothing special. They experience 2G during acceleration, 5G during braking and up to 6G in corners.

So put the Max tapping the brake which is wrong thing aside, how in the double **** does the apparent best driver in the world not avoid him?

Because they were playing a game with the DRS?

There should be a change to the rules that stipulate the pass must be done on the main straight or similar to stop both drivers taking the piss with it.

Yes I'll agree with this. Both being clowns.

This is from F2 a decade or so ago:

It's not the same but it shows you what they are capable of.

I have never heard of in my life brake checking in mid race on a straight with the following car over 1 sec behind.

Hammy should have just over taken... but here I blame his team, they should of advised much earlier.

Anyway, it would have been nice if they took each other out.

Ric would have had a podium, and if botas and ocon took each other out, ric 1st... the honey badger

Max basically planted his car in the middle of the track just prior to where the track widens and drops anchor with moving under breaking. Stewards got this one right for a change imho. As for Max and his lunge-defending in corners - sooner or later it’s going to result in a major incident.

Must be a better way to sort this DRS thing out like making it unavailable if giving back a place perhaps. This whole picking up drs off back-markers is also a problem.
