Strategically choosing the time to overtake a slower vehicle is perfectly legal within the context of this situation. Breaking erratically is not. The issue is not with either driving slowing down - it was the erratic breaking leading to a collision. Hence... The.. Penalty.

Nope.

Max was instructed to yield position. He complied by slowing to yield position. You are aware that these things exist in a finite time-frame? Masi would've given Max x-corners to yield the position or else he would've received a time penalty. Max wouldn't have had all night to yield and it isn't up to Lewis to decide when Max complies with this. You cannot expect the car carrying a potential penalty to fvck around at reduced speed until you decide you want to pass them.

And there were plenty of alternatives to max which he might’ve chosen which wouldn’t have caused a collision. The point still remains that Max’a action resulted in a collision which was determined predominantly to be his fault.

FIA confirm 14 positive Covid cases days before Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen shootout

THE FIA has confirmed 14 positive Covid cases just days before the ultimate showdown at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

An F1 statement said: “The FIA and F1 can today confirm that at the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, between Monday 29th November and Sunday 5th December, 7,501 tests for COVID-19 were performed on drivers, teams and personnel.

“Of these, 14 people tested positive"#AbuDhabiGP.”

The F1 world is still processing the chaotic events of the inaugural grand prix in Saudi Arabia, with Hamilton coming out on top to win his third straight race and move level on points with Verstappen in the drivers' standings.

Hakkinen critical of ‘dangerous’ actions in Jeddah clash

“With Max being asked to give the lead back to Lewis, the solution was clear,” he said.

“When you have to let a car repass there is only one way to do it safely. That is to make a clear move to one side, come off the throttle slightly and allow the natural speed differential to enable your competitor to repass you.

“What happened in Jeddah was dangerous. Both drivers knew that the DRS activation line lay ahead, so neither wanted to be the first across it since that would enable the other driver to overtake them on the next straight.

“We also now know that while Max had been given the instruction to allow Lewis to pass, Lewis had not yet been informed and was momentarily confused. As a result I think the teams and FIA will need to look at the process, and perhaps the technology, used to send messages to drivers.

“Looking at what happened next, I do not believe that Max was ‘brake testing’ Lewis – that is, trying to force a collision which could easily have put both cars out of the race.

“Instead he was trying to force Lewis to overtake him at the point. However the way he slowed, and the position of his car on the track, was definitely a problem. The FIA has revealed that Max’s car produced 2.4G-force under braking.

“To give you an idea of what that is like, a high-performance road car with ABS would produce about 1.2G under maximum braking. This was almost twice that, and we could see Max slowed from eighth to third gear in the process.

“Whatever the reason, it was not positive racing and the FIA was right to apply a penalty after the race.

“While we can argue about the size of the penalty – considering it did not change the results – the message is clear.

“Dangerous driving will lead to a penalty and if the FIA see a repeat of this kind of driving in Abu Dhabi I believe the penalty will be severe and immediate.”

“I have always been of the opinion that you have to race positively, not negatively,” he wrote.

“Winning the World Championship should be all about speed, precision, race craft and proving that you can beat the other driver in a straight fight – a sporting fight.

So the next time Verstompen ze brakes slows down.
We can expect those behind to slow down.
Or anyone braking mind you.
Going to make for boring races.

Did the FIA ever rule on that movable aero on Lewbono's car ?
Should be illegal as it made him faster once it was (re)moved from his car.

Whatever the case may be. This F1 season turned out to be one of the best in a long time. Seeing the title only decided on the last race is great! Can't wait for this weekend. There will be plenty action. And hopefully less drama.

They did ages ago.
They said "as you were"
The same wing was used for that race.
No it was not removed.

I blame the constant nazification of grammar on this site.
If one doesnt have a rebuttal.
Then its "lol look at his missing commas or make paragraph man."
Kind of an avoidance tactic.
So im better than LH at the moment with avoidance.
It was a bit of tongue-in-cheek as evidenced by the emoji at the end of my statement.
