Epic vid! Greg should enjoy this one. According to Fangio, Clark was the greatest F1 driver of all time. Also, one of the Lotus mechanics was a South Africa, Cedric Selzer.

Killing the engine and coasting through Woodcote, lap after lap, to save it... And winning the GP. What ridiculous talent that man had.

Alain Prost has his say;

Former world champion Alain Prost reckons that the time had come for cars to become harder to drive - so that a 'proper' F1 returned.

"I don't know what's going to happen with Max Verstappen, but it's true that he's going to be able to drive the car no problem," he told AUTOSPORT.

"This was absolutely not possible in our time - the cars were so difficult to drive.

"Every year we were testing in Portugal, we were stopping sometimes for a month testing.

"But the first time we went to Portugal it was not possible to make a complete day of testing at all, no way!

"It was physically really difficult, which is not the case today.

"That doesn't mean you absolutely want to go back to the way it was, but I think the speed of the cars during the races and the grip is not very good. It's quite slow, so you need to have a proper Formula 1."

Great pics Polish. Thought I'd add my favorite... Behold the awesomeness of the 1983, Gordon Murray designed Brabham BT52.

540kg, 850hp for qualifying and 640hp for race day. 15 races, 4 wins, 2 pole positions and 4 fastest laps... Upgraded mid-season to the BT52B which won another race or three. Driven by Piquet and Patrese and I watched them finish first and third at Kyalami that year.

Wohooo, now that is a mean looking machine.

No f-duct, movable wing, simple aerodinamics.......I like.

Yep. '83 was also the year after they banned ground effect cars so this one's got a flat underside as well.

The BT52 ''dart'' was a good looking car, but for me, this is probably the most beautiful F1 car ever built as well as one of the best colour schemes. The BT44 was sleek and the colour scheme was simple.

And this one......

View attachment 156726

car, boat, jet ski........

Love that car...
Niki Lauda, Gilles Villeneuve and Jody Scheckter all drove variants of it.
Very solid, reliable and fast. Probably the best car of it's time.
I had to google for the name - Ferrari 312T

It looks like a kart on steroids.
You can see just by looking at it that it was far more capable of going racing than the modern machinery - by going racing, I mean competing, overtaking, getting in the mix.
