It would have done nothing for Massa but likely would have saved Bianchi and María de Villota.

It would not have saved Bianchi. Bianchi tore his roll hoop off, which is part of the survival cell, the toughest part of the car.

It would probably have saved Justin Wilson (nosecone) and Henry Surtees (wheel) though.

At the least, you cant argue that it would have upped his chances of survival.

You forget just how violent that accident was, heavy enough to lift the recovery vehicle off the ground. There is also the deceleration factor. Bianchi's father believes Halo wouldn't have saved his son because it was just too violent and he even said it may not have even been the impact (head hitting the recovery vehicle) that caused the damage, but the deceleration itself. I can't see how it would've changed anything.

Well it's all speculation, but if I had a choice...

No it isn't, it's physics. It wouldn't have helped squat. And it looks silly.

Bull. Physics requires testing it. It's pure speculation.
Show me the math on the halo itself. Where are your calculations?
I'm not arguing you can ignore newton's laws of motion - you are speculating and claiming fact... based on what?

Based on far stronger bits than halo can ever be being ripped off, and a construction vehicle weighing far more than an F1 car being lifted off its wheels. You don't need pages of math to make the argument.

Halo is an ugly, silly idea that would never have helped. I'd be for clear, semi enclosed canopies instead, but that would still not have saved Bianchi.

Fortunately for the sport, they have experts to make decisions for them.
I'm happy to speculate from my armchair, I just don't call ****y logic fact.

Formula 1 has a history of implementing poorly conceived ideas to address concerns on wide ranging grounds, from safety to performance to lack of overtaking to environmental friendliness. This is simply the latest one.

Don't call sound logic ****ty. ;)

Fortunately they don't get their ideas from you or I.

I shouldn't call it logic, but yah, I didn't call it ****ty logic, I called it ****y logic :D

Logic and Fact are probably both irrelevant if you have an American Media Group calling the shots :)

Dude, you don't need to have an engineering degree to make statements consistent with observation.
