And Vergne also got a 5s penalty, which dropped from ninth to tenth position, thereby promoting Maldonado to ninth in the process.

Well done Lewis.

This is his championship and he has worked very hard for it, and deserves it.

Rosberg is an idiot for handing out 1st places, face after race. Like Stag says this was his best chance and he'll just stay a #2. Then he does not even narrow the gap, tsk.

Nice race and plenty of activity, nothing came easy for anyone.

Not yet... DNF in the last race...
Can you imagine another repeat of the earlier Rosberg/Hamilton incident? I wonder if the double points system would hang around after something like that lol.

What I want to know is what did Rosberg mean by 'I have time in my pocket' at quail? And how exactly did he pull that off? He certainly seemed to have the time when it counted, but was told to conserve fuel coming back to the pits... I'd like to know why he can perform on low fuel but not so much on the track when it counts.

Some drivers have exceptional single lap pace, but can't do it over the course of a race. Jarno Trulli was famous for that. More than a match for even Alonso over a single lap and in qualifying, but he would drop off in the race.

And also, I'm of the opinion that you get drivers and racers. Alonso and Hamilton are racers, Rosberg is a driver. Alonso and Hamilton have fire in their bellies.

True this. The drivers are rarely WC, of late only JB caught a luck with Brawn.

Yes it would, that is exactly what Mr. E wants to happen, the controversy would keep F1 in the headlines for months.

There is far more chance of it being scrapped if it has no effect on the final result this year.

...the very thing they are so often criticised for - not settling for second when first can be achieved (despite the bigger picture).

I like that analogy.... to which I put this forward:

Driver = Vettel
Racer = Ricciardo

I'd agree with that. Vettel has the selfish part of being a champion down, but I have always questioned his race craft.

Granted, but can one, really, after 4 WC titles ?

Not many 4 x WC around.

Michael (7), Fangio (5), Prost (4) and Vettel (4), in 63 years.

As much as i'd like to also believe otherwise that is somewhat of an elite, is it not ?

He's a good driver, I do not question that. Just for me he's never looked comfortable in a race. He strikes me as someone who is at his best when his car is 100% and he has a clear track ahead of him. The minute he has to do a bit of work he looks out of sorts and sulky, a la 2014.

Personally, I feel Hamilton, Alonso and a motivated Kimi are superior racers. And we cannot overlook the elephant in the room; Daniel is mincing him this season in a car that isn't the best and Fernando is matching him in a car that is even worse.

And as for those drivers you mentioned; none of them were ever thoroughly outclassed by a teammate while they were in their prime. Michael for one was never beaten by a teammate when he was in his prime during his first stint in F1 (excluding 1999 when he was injured, but he still came back and handed Irvine a win and trounced him in Japan).

As much as i like Daniel and will support him in races, its also his first year at RBR.

I think a little bit of time is also needed to see if his superiority will sustain.

For all we know Kvyat comes and outshines him next year, then what :p

Sometimes it's down to the car, but Daniel again proved that he has the mindset to get the most out of the car he drives. Perhaps these torque centric cars of 2014 suit his style better, we'll see.

Agree, look at his stats and what % of his races were won from the front of the grid during his WC years. Very high.

Which makes it all the more stunning.

This is a team that Vettel knows inside out. He is on the back of winning 4 championships and a driver with about 3.5 years of experience has come in and thoroughly dismantled him. He hasn't just beaten him, he has outclassed him in every facet.
