Yes, final Bells for that.

Rosberg has nothing to fear from below, there aren't enough points available for Ricciardo to steal 2nd place. He could only trade places with Lewis, who is 24 points ahead.

If Lewis wins in Brazil and Rosberg makes no points Lewis will be 49 points ahead so then exactly the same reversed scenario would be needed at Yas Marina for Rosberg to win. Naturally a whole host of other combinations if they finish randomly within top 10.

Williams are in 3rd and cannot catch RBR but they could be caught by Ferrari as there is only 42 points between them so anything possible, though the out of form Kimi almost secures minimal points.

Also, McLaren could still catch Ferrari (49 points diff) and Force India could still catch McLaren (24 points diff).

Nice when it comes to the wire.

Ricciardo has the best attitude atm. I'd love to see him win a WC... and soon.

Enjoy watching this guy race,a thinking driver with the killer instinct. He reminds me a lot of Prost and Schumacher in their heyday.

Williams don't have the speed to surpass Mercedes and at this stage of the season they aren't going to find it. What they do have is more than enough speed to hold off any of the other cars. Their downfall all season has been their pit-stops, race tactics and Massa's indecisiveness. Massa lost a podium to Ricciardo because of shoddy tactics and tardy pit-stops and they probably should have gotten Bottas ahead of Ricciardo as well.

The best they can hope for is a 3-4 if the Merc drivers behave and have reliable cars.

Imagine... 3 car teams.

Alonso
Hamilton
Ricciardo

I'd pay to watch that, the rest of the grid can take a holiday :D

All I'll say is that Lewis' results for Brazil include:
3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 2x retirements.
It's not his favourite track so we're in for something interesting I reckon.

Ja, that's the thing, I've been pondering about this also.

Is Bernie right in snubbing the poor privateer teams in favour of 3 man top enders ?

Yes maybe he is, for precisely this reason that is shared by i assume thousands if not more. Nobody turns up to watch the back markers.

Interlagos has a great history with wet races. Strangest things can happen, even with quali.

This could really be a trump card for some.

But don't forget that 4th place made him (at the time) the youngest ever World Champion.
If for no other reason than that I think it probably is one of his Favourite Tracks, though maybe not one he looks forward to racing on.

Radio Ga Ga - United States Grand Prix

In a race where Adrian Sutil vented at a wayward Mexican and Jenson Button got a little tetchy with his pit wall, ESPN rounds up the best radio soundbites from Austin.

"I'm sorry. Not the same car as this morning. I guess we are out?"
"Yes. By a country mile."
Lotus has some bad news for Romain Grosjean after he makes a costly mistake in the closing stages of Q1.

"This is getting a bit ridiculous but the thing keeps locking. I try to take it easy and it just locks up."

Lewis Hamilton struggles to understand the behaviour of his Mercedes under braking. The problem would eventually contribute to him missing out on pole.

"Adrian, can you continue?"
"No. ****ing Perez just kicked me off the circuit!"

Adrian Sutil is in no mood to mince his words after being punted out of the race, and his best points-scoring chance of the season, by an overly-optimistic Sergio Perez on the opening lap.

"Are you sure I can come in? Anybody else you want me to let through?"

After McLaren cancel his initial pit stop so team-mate Kevin Magnussen could come in early, Jenson Button, upset at letting three cars past on the next lap, reveals the British penchant for sarcasm is alive and well.

"Nice one mate. Let's get after those Willies."

Red Bull might need to work on its abbreviation for Williams after delivering this message to a charging Daniel Ricciardo in the opening stint.

"What was that!?"

Romain Grosjean is far from impressed by Jean-Eric Vergne's banzai overtake up the inside of Turn 1 in the closing laps.

"The first stint was an absolute joke, I don't understand. Whole race very nervous."

Sebastian Vettel is at a loss to explain why the race competitive pace he displayed during practice disappeared in his opening stint at the end of a frustrating afternoon for the world champion.

"Yeehaw!"

Daniel Ricciardo reveals there may be a career waiting for him after F1 on a Texan ranch as he celebrates taking the final position on the podium in Austin.

"Get in there Lewis! Epic drive mate, epic drive."

High praise indeed for Hamilton as race engineer Peter Bonnington congratulates him on victory number 10 of 2014.
