It must be slow. It says SAP all over it, the most inefficient and badly designed DBMS I have ever been unfortunate enough to encounter :)

The SAP logo is on the Mercedes version as well. You theory makes sense then. ;)

Yes, it was faster till they put that LOGO on the Mercedes version too.
But its not that bad, look what happened to Lotus when they decided to partner with Microsoft Dynamics :)

Caterham reckon they will race in Abu Dhabi.

I have my doubts. Why spend the money as a last minute desperate act, rather spread it out to the retrenched staff as xmas bonus.

Probably in an attempt to attract investors. ''Look, we're still a viable concern''. Also, if you purchase them while they are still active you may still get top-10 bonus money as Marussia forfeited it after closing down.

The reason Mclaren havent announced their driver line up for 2015 is because Alonso is beating around the bush waiting for Mercedes to anounce their 2015 driver line up.He hopes Lewis fails to win the wc and leaves and he replaces him. Thats also the reason Ferrari havent announced their driver line up for 2015

"I have a very unique position," he said. "Thanks to so many years and respect and work that I did on the track, I decide what I do and when I do it. Probably some of the things that are happening are a consequence of my thinking. I have my mind set and I have had a plan very clear for the last two or three months.

"I know what I want to do and everything is moving in the right direction, but at the moment it is still not 100% complete. Everything is moving in the right direction and I am the decision maker. Whatever I do will have some consequences and I have that privileged position that I am lucky for that right now.

"I repeat now. Whatever I want to do I will do, and in the moment I want to do it. I will race more or less in whatever place I want. After that the others will move their position probably. When I finally make my decision, we will see what it is, and I know what I want to do and I will tell you at the time." "There are many options. The thing that you need to understand is that from outside they say one thing and from the inside it's very different. For the last two or three months you should understand which direction I am moving, but you didn't get it. When I will tell you, you will understand right." - Fernando Alonso , 3 weeks ago

But doesn't that automatically push Sauber into 10th ?

Very likely neither will score points in AD.

Why would anyone want to leave Mercedes now ?

Even is Lewis fails to win WC i doubt he will leave the team.

There are only 11 teams, so if one leaves it is down to 10. But, now that I think about it, Marussia may forfeit their bonuses but their 9th position in the championship will stand. Formula One does not expunge your results if you withdraw, you just forfeit any money due to you, so yeah, it is pretty moot. No dice for Caterham and Sauber will get the final bonus payout.

Vital Statistics - the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Did you know that Lewis Hamilton has claimed two poles and one victory in Abu Dhabi - but that Nico Rosberg had the edge over him in both qualifying and the race last year? Or how about the fact that only once in five races has a driver converted pole into victory at Yas Marina? Ahead of this weekend's 2014 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, we present the key facts, stats and trivia...

Circuit: Yas Marina

Circuit length: 5.554 km

Number of corners: 21 (9 right, 12 left)

DRS zones: 2

Race laps: 55

Race distance: 305.355 km

2014 tyre compounds: supersoft, soft

Circuit lap record: 1m 40.279s - Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull, 2009

First world championship Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi: 2009, Yas Marina (won by Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull)

Number of Grands Prix in Abu Dhabi: 5 (all at Yas Marina)

Number of races with at least one safety car appearance: 2 of the last 5

Longest Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi: 2012 (1h 45m 58.667s)

Shortest Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi: 2009 (1h 34m 03.414s)

Last year's pole position: 1m 39.957s - Mark Webber, Red Bull

Last year's podium: 1 - Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull), 2 - Mark Webber (Red Bull), 3 - Nico Rosberg (Mercedes)

Most appearances (current field): 5 - Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button; 4 - Kamui Kobayashi, Felipe Massa, Adrian Sutil

Most wins (driver): 3 - Sebastian Vettel; 1 - Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen

Most wins (constructor): 3 - Red Bull; 1 - McLaren, Lotus

Most wins (engine manufacturer): 4 - Renault; 1 - Mercedes

Most pole positions (driver): 2 - Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton; 1 - Mark Webber

Most pole positions (constructor): 3 - Red Bull; 2 - McLaren

Most pole positions (engine manufacturer): 3 - Renault; 2 - Mercedes

Number of wins from pole: One from five races (20 percent)

Lowest winning grid position: 4th (Kimi Raikkonen, Lotus, 2012)

Laps led (current field): 134 - Sebastian Vettel; 86 - Lewis Hamilton; 36 - Kimi Raikkonen; 15 - Jenson Button; 3 - Fernando Alonso

Most podium places (current field): 4 - Sebastian Vettel; 3 - Jenson Button; 2 - Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso; 1 - Kimi Raikkonen, Nico Rosberg

Percentage of 2014 season complete: 95 percent

Maximum number of world championship points still available to a single driver: 50

Significant running sequences going into this weekend: Nico Rosberg - 2 consecutive pole positions, 10 consecutive front-row starts; Lewis Hamilton - 6 consecutive podium finishes; Mercedes - 18 consecutive podium finishes; Sebastian Vettel - 10 straight points finishes; Renault - 118 races in the points as an engine manufacturer

Fascinating fact: Three times as many victories have come from starting second on the grid than they have from pole - but only once has a driver from outside the front row gone on to triumph.

Time is running out: Sebastian Vettel has just one more opportunity to record his first victory of the year. The last time a defending champion failed to a win a race the following season was Jacques Villeneuve (champion in 1997) in 1998. Ferrari and McLaren likewise have one final chance to record their first victory of the year. Should they fail to do so, it will be the first season since 1980 that neither team has triumphed.

Potential record breaker: Nico Rosberg could capture his 11th pole position of the year in Abu Dhabi. Only six drivers - Sebastian Vettel (with 15), Nigel Mansell (14), Ayrton Senna (13) Alain Prost (13), Michael Schumacher (11) and Mika Hakkinen (11) have claimed 11 or more poles in a single season.

Turbo history: If a Ferrari-powered car wins the race it will be the first Ferrari turbo win since the 1988 Italian Grand Prix.

McLaren: No driver decisions until December

McLaren have decided to put off any announcement on their 2015 driver line-up until next month in order to focus on this weekend’s season-ending 2014 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and next week’s subsequent post-race test.

Neither of the British squad’s current drivers, former champion Jenson Button and rookie Kevin Magnussen, has yet been reconfirmed, with McLaren management reportedly considering who should partner Fernando Alonso - widely tipped to be returning to the team - next season.

“Selecting the optimal driver line-up for a Formula One team is clearly an important process, and it is therefore one that requires precise and prolonged analysis,” read a McLaren statement released Tuesday.

Ecclestone defiant over revenue distribution

Bernie Ecclestone has told the smaller teams asking for a fairer distribution of F1's billion-dollar revenues they will not be getting extra money.

On Monday the trio of Force India, Sauber and Lotus sent Ecclestone, FIA president Jean Todt and the six remaining teams a letter explaining their grievances at the current state of Formula One and demanding change. The letter came after crisis talks broke down in Brazil and a supposed meeting between Ecclestone and commercial rights holders CVC Capital Partners came to nothing.

The letter said the trio "cannot accept the current distribution of funds in view of the massive increase of expenses" despite signing bilateral agreements with F1 boss Ecclestone and CVC. But Ecclestone is unmoved by their concerns and says they need to consider their business models in future.

"They have a contract they signed," Ecclestone told the Press Association. "They know exactly what they signed and how much money they would be getting. What we don't have any control over is how much they want to spend. That's the problem.

"Normally in business you have a look and see how much money you are going to get, and then you decide to spend less than that otherwise you are going to be in trouble. It doesn't seem like they've followed a normal business route.

"Clearly there should be cost-cutting. There is no need to spend the amount of money they do, but of course they spend it to win. But it doesn't seem anybody - including the people complaining - has made any effort to save money.

What he fails to mention is the cost of the new Power Units that were forced on them, without choice, and consumed up to 75% of the budget. The three would not be in this position had F1 itself not totally messed up their budgeting and business plans.

Yes, this really didn't make sense, in light of constant preaching around cost saving.

Maybe that was Bernie's intention all along.

Well actually bernie was against it from the start, it is probably the only thing we can't blame him for.
