Actually I think Rosberg was doing the right thing with what he had - a poor start. If he could have done what Massa did, he might have taken the win... and can you imagine how much of a nailbiter it would have been had Massa in 3rd been chasing down Lewis in 2nd?

Has to be put into context. Massa went onto the faster tyre because they thought they had a chance at a win. If Rosberg and Hamilton were one-two at the time of his last stop I don't think they'd go to the faster tyre, rather just sit back and secure the 3-4. Also, Hamilton's car had been turned down after Rosberg went backwards, he had Massa easily covered yesterday. When Massa got the gap down to around 4 seconds Hamilton started matching him lap for lap on the slower tyre. If he came under serious threat they could have turned the wick up on the Merc and let him bang in two or three hot laps and break Massa's push.

Quite an anti-climactic end to the season, it has to be said. Still, the right man won in the end. Eleven wins to Rosberg's five (I think).

Here's hoping 2015 brings closer racing and a wider variety of winners and title contenders.

Actually I thought it wasn't bad considering the WC was won in the last race.

Yeah, I don't deny that the season as a whole was good; just that the final showdown was a bit of a letdown. Was hoping to see a fully functioning Rosberg take it to Hamilton. Whether he could've done anything is something I guess we'll never know.

Rosberg just didn't have it in him, overall he drove well but not well enough.

He must take a learning curve and focus on 2015 now.

He managed to out drive michael shoemaker and it probably made him underestimate Hamilton.
He wont be making that mistake next year.

But he has redeemed himself in my opinion with the magnanimous way he accepted defeat.
Next year they start with a clean slate and, hopefully, a reinvigorated McLaren to keep them honest.

Also, imo, RBR and Ferrari will have to bounce back.

They are just too big a teams with enough money not to.

Spanish King: Alonso will drive for McLaren

King Juan Carlos I of Spain may have inadvertently confirmed Fernando Alonso's move to McLaren after he announced it in Abu Dhabi.

Juan Carlos, who abdicated the throne earlier this year and was replaced by Felipe VI, is known to be close to Alonso and said his fellow countryman had told him he will be driving for McLaren next season when quizzed by Spanish television on Sunday. Alonso's move to McLaren is widely expected but remains unconfirmed as the team dithers over announcing his 2015 team-mate.

"I'm here to support Fernando in his last race," King Juan Carlos said. "He told me he is going to join McLaren and that he's very happy."

When asked about what Juan Carlos had said, Alonso laughed and said he is not a man who can challenge royalty.

"What the king says, you can't say anything opposite," Alonso joked. "The king is the king and he is always right."

Arrivebene to replace Mattiacci as Ferrari team principal

Ferrari has announced Maurizio Arrivabene will replace Marco Mattiacci as team principal.

Arrivabene has been involved in F1 through Ferrari's sponsorship deal with Philip Morris and is also brand manager of Marlboro. Rumours in the Abu Dhabi paddock suggested such a move was imminent, with Mattiacci believed to be set for a senior role in Ferrari.

I had a feeling that this may have happened.

Mattiacci was either only an interim solution or he did a really crap job, or both.
