Not sure if I must be excited about Giancarlo Fisichella racing for Ferrari? But he's a substantially better prospect than Luca Badoer could ever be. Luca was nothing less than disappointing in his 2 races. There could not have been much wrong with the car if Kimi was able to win?

Okay, let me happy for Giancarlo and happy that the 2nd driver has more chance of getting into the top 10 than Luca.

jk8 - that's nonsense.

For years they have been punting fisichella for ferrari.

Even during his time at renault - If it wasn't for kimi - I am certain he would've ended up at ferrari sooner.

One good race, what do you expect one of the slowest cars on the grid to do? You can see what he can do with a car underneath him that can perform.

Besides how can ferrari have a test driver who cannot cut it in F1? I mean HTf does he test the car in a good manner and push it if he cannot even do it in a F1 race?

This is the real embarrassment for Ferrari. They've all but publicly admitted that it is because of their complete lack of a young drivers programme that they didn't have anyone to fill the seat.

I still can't fathom how they didn't shoot Badoer out of a cannon after his first free practice, though. Piquet would've been a phone call away...

My question is why Fisci? why not hijack Alonso now? If his comments are anything to go by, he will be Ferrari's second driver next season and with Massa at 1, Fisci will be reduced to a test driver. Also if Ferrari do get their way and push for a 3rd car they already publicly stated that the seat for the 3rd car belongs to Schumi.... I know its Fisci's dream, but think he should have just signed for the remainder of the season and return to FI next season.

Well that particular day the car was faster than anyone else, just a decent setup...
Isnt Fisichella just good at qualifying? Or is that Trulli?

Yup... Trulli, the quintessential one-lap-wonder.

Personally I think Ferrari's signing of Fisi smacks of the same flavour of straw-grabbing that had Look-how-bad-you-are in the seat in the first place. Look, I'm happy for Fisi that he gets the chance, as an Italian, to pilot a Ferrari at Monza and all, but I reserve judgement as to the merit of the decision.

I read somewhere Fisi was going to be the Ferrari test driver next year anyway. There was an article about Badoer complaining that it was the negative press that got him fired as a race driver, then went on to say that he still wants to be a part of the Ferrari setup next year, even with Fisi as a test driver... I think I read that

Yes Badoer came out and said that the press were the cause of his downfall, just looking for excuses really, he couldnt cut it, enough said. Yes the press were hard on him but if you driving for one of the best teams in F1, everyone has expectations.

Negative press got him fired hahahaha.

Yikes ok then luca if you say so. I guess not being able to compete with the slowest cars in f1 had nothing to do with it. He was finishing last while kimi was winning a GP and he blames negative press?

in all fairness to the useless Badoer - he did not finish last in Belgium....
there were 6 non-finishers.... :p

Good luck to Fisi - he deserves the chance!
Would be interesting to see if the FIA allow constructors to have 3 cars next season...
Would really like to see Michael back and this is the rumour if 3 cars are allowed.

This can all be blamed on racing hours this year - I believe he hadn't even driven this year prior to his first race for Ferrari. Even the rookies who started this year had some driving behind them in other series.

Testing ban sucks big time for test drivers. And Fisi will be taking Badoer's spot next year - what was he thinking? Perhaps counting on testing ban being lifted?

What is the point of a test driver with the current ban on testing in-season?
