Facebook says it is not responsible for policing the Internet

Facebook Inc. has made mistakes in controlling the use of its data and has improved its monitoring of fake news but can’t be expected to police the global internet, spokesman Nick Clegg said in an interview in El Pais.

Facebook’s vice president of global affairs and communication said the technology company can identify and warn users that certain content might be false, but that it’s not its role to provide alternatives to individuals so that they can get a more objective perspective.

absolutely agree with them HOWEVER they do have a responsibility to better police content posted on their site when it is reported to them and their AI absolutely sucks at the job.

If they responded properly to tags of inappropriate comments then what they say is fair. But I dont think they have proper channel in place to take care of posts that are illegal. Till they remove posts thats marked as such they are enabling.

"we don't have the right to police our subscribers"

"Secretly does it anyway because trump must not be allowed to win again."

Facebook make billions... Yet they can't police what people use their platform for.
