So, i finally got my speedstick on Friday from Cell C Menlyn. I must the process was very swift. I'm not a geek, but i was impressed with a 7MB song downloading in 13 secs. Did a number of mp3 downloads from different sites, and in most cases (approx 95% of the time), manages to get a song (3-6MBs) in less than 10 seconds, and all this from an area supposedly not covered on the coverage map.
FACT, WWWWWHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSHHHH exists.

Now still waiting to proove if there is a GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.

Nice! I've been playing around with the GF's speedstick in Ubuntu over the wknd, she still had quite a bit of cap left so i downloaded a torrented movie, 699mb in just over 10 mins! Compared to my vodacom bundle this rips some serious a$$... :) Still expensive (imo) but the offering and speed thus far is well impressive.

I just hope though that as more and more people get their hands on the sticks, the network will be able to handle the traffic.
Am going to upgrade mine today from 2 to 5GBs.

Can you actually upgrade from 2GB to 5GB? Certainly on the prepaid offer, I always understood from our dealer that whatever you chose, you were locked in to that for the year.

Does anybody know what is going to happen when one gets to the end of the first year?

Will it become a prepaid service? Will the price per MB remain at around 5c?

They made an error on my contract - I chose 5GB on the contract but was given the 2GB stick, so i was asked to bring it back so they can cancel the 2GB contact and open a new 5GB contract. Afterall, it's anly been 3 days. I've decided to leave it on 2GB since i do much of the downloading at work.

Just called the Cell C Direct CS, was told will be billed on pro-rata basis. Their calculation was as follows:
R149 (2GB) divide by 31 days = R4,80 a day.
and then 2GB (2046MB) divided by 31 days = 66MB a day.
I will be charged R24 for May and was allocated 330MB from friday till today (5days).

Unless something changed, they are mistaken. Most of us got our first month's data for free. I'm on prepaid though, so it might be different for contract users.

I so hope that the CS Agent gave me the wrong info. I'd very much appreciate asome "free" megs for the first month.

Shame on you !

But do worry, if not now then you will pay for this statement eventually.

But i thought the GREAT BIBLE preaches not to judge, especially "lost" souls like me. Where's the sense of humour today, frozen cold i guess. Easy on me, i just need some guidence and to be shown the light.

Prepaid gets the free GB's. Contract is Prorata.

@victorlebza: I just feel it is totally uncalled for to make such a comment, this is a technical forum and surely not there to possibly upset people with other believes than yourself, but if you feel you need guidance, I would be happy to oblige. Also, I fail to see the humor in your comment even if it is winter.

Christian guilt at its finest, you okes just can't help yourselves huh? :wtf:

@Happy Camper: I am a Christian and I am proud of it ! Further.........I do not feel guilty of anything that might remotely concern you.
